You just not taking it in...Thought I would make it easier for you. From point 1..All I have said is too early for firm conclusions...It is not difficult.
Can we compare our mortality rate with other nations? Yes we can. We just can't use the league tables.

Zero to 69,500 is a pretty impressive number anyway, within just a few short weeks.
Eight weeks or more. Not that impressive compared to anywhere other than the US.

(Oh look! Another example of how we can compare our performance to other nations!)

Nice moving of goal posts. First it's impossible to compare current performance (except it is) now it's impossible to review the entire end to end Covid-19 pandemic (except no one is claiming you can or want to).

Tribalism and emotional investment in groups or people you support is very human and utterly destructive to honest discussion.

Perhaps due to the UK being affected later, when equipment was in short supply/ more difficult to obtain.

UK also has a small diagnostics capacity (fine for normal times, insufficient for pandemics), compared to the much - vaunted German system.

I believe Johnson yesterday in PMQs cited a scientist re the 'cant make comparisons with other countries nor reach conclusions about how we are doing so far' -the scientist has since tweeted that he has been quoted out of context.

I heard a few scientists say "whilst its true we wont know the full picture until its over, but its fair to say the UK response has been carp"

I think its more about BHS than it is about the whole government. There will be a collective orgasm from the BHS when we finally leave at the end of this year. They (filly et al) will keep on moaning about Europe, Germany and the EU though.(y)

That's not an excuse for making up a false number, is it?

As you say, it's a pity our government twiddled its thumbs while the news from China got worse and the WHO issued warnings in January.
