Give Boris Some Credit

If I remember correctly without reading it all again.

The 'it' is 'the market' and a claim that it doesn't work.

If wealthy people are getting wealthier at the expense of the poor, then it is working because that is what it is/was designed to do.

They said the other day that they never managed to come up with a vaccine for SARS so in some ways hopes on this one are low so they hope to find treatments that help.

Why the trouble with treatments etc, Best estimate with treatment on total deaths 500k, worse 800k. Don't think anyone has bothered trying to work out what would happen with no treatment - ie no nhs available at all. Most of the people who needed hospital would probably die. Were we are at the moment from the sample survey

  • As of 9 May 2020, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) had received the results of swab tests collected from 7,087 individual participants in the coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Survey in England between 26 April and 8 May 2020.

  • It is estimated that 0.24% of the population in England tested positive for COVID-19 (95% confidence interval: 0.14% to 0.40%).

  • It is estimated 136,000 people in England were currently infected with COVID-19 (95% confidence interval: 76,000 to 225,000).

It begins. I did say the Tories are known to eat their own. Sadly Bojo will not last this Parliament.

It does work that way. One reason is this

Total Public Revenue
in the United Kingdom
Central Government and Local Authority
Fiscal Year 2021
Income and Capital Taxes £283 billion
National Insurance + £150 billion
Indirect Taxes + £354 billion
Fees and Charges + £0 billion
Business and Other Revenue + £85 billion
Total Direct Revenue = £873 billion

It has been nearer 1 trillion. Banks going bust seems to have messed that up - and debt. Nothing to do with Labour just down to stupid ideas by banks.

:) Some of the revenue is from privatised companies so we pay the tax on that. Lots isn't income tax so paid another way irrespective of what some one earns. When we buy things off anyone your paying their tax bill as well. Some profit will have been diverted to some where else so no tax return at all. Maybe the reason for VAT - ensures they get some.

NI - just not high enough. Not sure if it ever has been high enough really. Maybe for a few years initially.
