Can't We Use This Anymore?

years ago when worked on the railway as a driver [about early eighties then] i used the term packies not realizing it was in any way derogatory indeed if i knew it was in the least negative i would be horrified as i dont do negative to any great extent never mind in an evil way ??
any way the people concerned understood i had zero negative intent so was taken in the way ment as it should be
in that respect i was Nieve and wrongly informed so iff your intentions are to be offensive or possibly evil your words are wrong and need correcting including a penalty or punishment
iff you intentions are misguided with no ill intent or upset meant then no penality should be applied if a correct heart felt genuine apology is given when you realise it can be wrong and upsetting even if it takes several times till you remember:eek:
any way the point i am making if your "free speech "is being offensive or possibly evil it deserves being rained in with a heavy hand
if it is nieve or well ment a lighter hand should be used
you think you have free speech? wake up. you will say what you are permitted to say.

It looks like some people can't read.

Gammon is a pejorative. So what,? So is twonk, idiot, dopey whats'it, etc.
They are not racist terms.

Wiki says that there has been some debate over whether 'gammon' is racist. It does not conclude either way.
No doubt the 'gammons' have been arguing it is racist, so they can use the racist slur against others.
Meanwhile the ones using the term 'gammon' argue that it isn't racist.

Just because it refers to the colour that middle-aged white men go, when they get all of a tizz, it doesn't automatically mean it's racist.
If you call someone 'fat', it isn't racist. It isn't a protected characteristic, because it's not a condition forced upon them by circumstances. Being middle-aged, and taking on the colour of gammon when getting into a tizz isn't a protected characteristic.
Therefore it's not racist, and it's not discriminatory.

Here he is right on queue i bet this one has you spot welding your shorts :D

Indeed it seems to be the term of preference for Lefties responding to Snowflake, in true Left style they would rather self deprecate their own colour. White guilt will not help compensate the apparent extreme racism (rife in your imagination of all white middle class privileged right wing) of course Left wing supporters are poor and give any money leftover from their bills to support those minority groups :D

You don't get it do you? The more you exclude the more you talk about colour the more you make exclusive colour groups the more you invite racism to exist when you give the tools to racists to use, what's stopping a 'person of colour' calling someone a Gammon? I don't call anyone of any colour a pejorative or any slur in reference to their skin colour as i am sure you agree with me the anti racist want to stamp out negative naming, actions and any negative connotations to anyones skin colour.

If i call someone fat it's most probable they are fattist! Budum tish... like it ;)

So practice what you preach the genius x

Good for you.
Have you never used the term gammon or snowflake against anyone?
Have you ever accused someone of being racist, for using such terms?
Have you ever tried to invent a new pejorative term for other people?

If gammon is a racist term, then so is snowflake.
Gammon is racist because it refers to a specific ethnicity and demographic.
White and middle aged(usually English) people.

Can a black man be in Gammon mode when angry
He'd need to be a Brexer to qualify and turn gammon coloured whilst ranting at the Daily Wail. Gammons typically return to normal when calm. Black people can't change colour, no.

Donald Trump on the other hand....

It refers to white, middle-aged men, only when they get in a tizz.
When they come out of their little tizz, they are no longer 'gammons'.
They do not suffer discrimination for being temporarily a gammon.

While some object that it’s racist – something the dictionary was keen not to be drawn on – that’s neither true, nor the point. Racist words (which do appear in dictionaries, by the way) have the pull of broader injustices and systems of control behind them. They are hurtful because they remind someone of their place in the world. Calling someone a gammon doesn’t remind white people of how they suffer on the basis of their country of birth or religion. It doesn’t remind them of the mass incarceration of their people; or how they will be denied access to equal pay and employment because of the colour of their skin.

No it isn't and doesn't.

You inserted usually English. English is not a race.

What would be the difference between white middle aged people anywhere in the world?
Then why can't the term be used to describe angry black or Asian men.
