Ah, so we kill people with mental health issues. Temporary or permanent?

What race card exists for murder?

Tony Martin would be dead under your rules, twice.

And you're executing around 400 people a year for careless and dangerous driving.

A car is like owning a gun. You can kill people with your car. If one is not responsible when driving, he shouldn't drive in the first place.

I don't know where you got that from, it is obviously wrong.
The exact definition may differ from what I’ve written, but it was explained that way to me by a county court judge and his defence barrister wife.

Yes I think it is just manslaughter, I doubt they set out to snare a police officer and drag him along the road to his death. They were three lads out on the rob and it went seriously wrong. The sentences given may be fair enough with me providing that was a minimum term and they could demonstrate remorse at the end of the sentence. But with early release they will probably be out in 6 or 7 years and that would be far too soon in my book.

The bigger question here for me is should there be harsher sentences for killing a police officer. If the lads had got away from the police and had killed another road user as they sped away at high speed, would that have been somehow a lesser crime?
I see the argument as a deterrent against harming police officers, but then it is a job that carries inherent risks, surely any deterrent sentencing needs at least to protect everyone who is simply going about their lawful business equally.

We need more police and harsher penalties, we have been trying this namby pamby experiment for many decades now and crime is getting worse, its time we went the other way.

Probably guaranteed to annoy the human rights folks, but when a police officer tells you to STOP (and can be proved) then you bloody well STOP.
If you don't, your human rights go bye bye.
Harsh deterrents required, and don't make laws that can't or won't be enforced.
On the news earlier......some tart going nuts on an aircraft, trying to open the door etc, well pi$$ed but blaming it on the fact that she hadn't taken her HRT that morning. 'First offence? Righto, that'll be a grand fine and by the way, just drop your passport in the shredder on the way out, pet'.
Sorted!
John :)

Like Rodney King. Got what was coming to him. Trusting the police that much is a terrible idea. They're human, not judge dread.

It was manslaughter up to a point where they would have realised they were dragging a person/ body behind the car, that they continued to tow that person along the road for a mile, supports a charge not of manslaughter, but of murder. I simply cannot believe they were unaware that they had a body on tow. There were three of them in the car, the natural thing when being pursued is to look behind frequently to check on the progress of a pursuer, especially the two passengers.

Not making excuses for anyone's behaviour but I have had to deal with school kids who have gone beserk (thankfully nothing to do with me) and its awesome just how much strength they can muster.....they have to be restrained both for their safety and that of others and there's no way they'll see reason when they are so far out of control.

you're right, at some point it has to turn into murder. It does seem incredible that they did not know, but then again we have not seen the evidence, it was dark they were in a panic....

get into an argument and punch someone, that person falls hits their head, if they die it is manslaughter but if you have tried to help and called an ambulance then leniency would be fair. Laugh and walk away it is still manslaughter but more serious. Continue to kick and punch them and surely it must turn into murder, !

Who cares I say

Fact is a young PC was dragged to his death

Horrendous

The dead beats who had criminal. Records for violence rape and threatening police

Fck em I say if they cannot be bumped off than bang em up for 50 years minimum term

I'm not doing well as a born again snowflake - I'm struggling to argue against that.

I despair at members of the Public who stand back and use their smartphones to record police officers being attacked. I think there is a law that says you MUST help a police officer if he is being attacked or you can be jailed.

Sadly you have been misled. Halal slaughter in this country in generally performed with pre-stunning. The only difference is that prayers are said during the slaughter, or played from a recording.

Perhaps you are thinking of Jewish ritual slaughter, which is always performed on un-stunned animals.

For some reason anti-islam propagandists always neglect to mention this when they speak of religious slaughter.
The reason that one form of ritual slaughter is criticised less than the other should be obvious.
Most people know which side their bagel is buttered on.
