Mainly resting after a hard days graft yesterday, but we went to a cycling store to look at a new e bike for Mrs CB, saw a couple that would suit but the sales guy said no new stock until 2021 and then first come etc
I have tried out a few e bikes...The Halford I tried for about £1200 is great for pottering about/commute.I was more impressed than expected to be..

I keep toying with the idea of converting my existing bike to electric assist. Costs £6-700 for the kit though. Would probably go for a rear hub setup. Anyone done an electric bike conversion?

Took a mock CSCS test, I failed :( 44 out of 50, mind you I haven't read any of the material and completed it in 6 minutes. Pass is 45 and you're allowed 40 mins.

Yes, I can understand where she is coming from a lot of the time.

Where did you take the test? Was it on-line and, if so, how much did it cost?

Online, just a mock. It's not for my benefit. Just wanted to gauge how difficult it was for my youngest to pass.

My wife has a Rayleigh folding electric bike, this one in fact https://www.raleigh.co.uk/gb/en/stow-e-way/low-step/ we bought it second hand for £550 (completely coincidentally) off someone I know, it's an absolute blast, I love it, makes the absolute hills where I live easy but then I'm fairly fit anyway. That said its big even when folded and far too heavy for her to lift so the whole folding thing about it is a bit of a falacy IMO. We got it with a view to her seeing how she got on with it with a view to getting her an electric Bromptom but they're megabucks but a lot more compact when folded.

I will get a more conventional one at some point. Whilst many pooh-pooh facebook, facebook marketplace is full of second hand E-bikes.

I looked at conversions at one point, rear wheel drive is the preffered way to go but personally I'd go for a proper E-bike rather than a conversion.

I gave my neighbour our old conventional bikes, he had them converted by a local guy, one seems ok but the other has conked out, its in my garage at the moment awaiting my attention, those halford bikes are ok, two year warranty on the electrics, mine had to have a new rear wheel after 18 months
