What have you been doing today?

When our son moved back home after living with his mates, he brought the house kitten, Alfie, home with him. We had a cat of our own and a puppy at the time. Of course after 6 months he moved back out and Alfie stayed with us. He would have the odd night out and we knew he was visiting another family - Mrs Mottie with her bloodhound nose could smell another woman’s perfume on him! Anyway, he was gone for a few nights when we had a call from a vet - the mystery woman had taken him in to see if he was chipped (son gave our details when they got him and had him chipped). Turned out he was visiting a house in the close opposite. Anyway, the woman’s husband brought him back and was telling us how upset his wife was when she found out he belonged to someone. After speaking to our son, he agreed that if Alfie was happy there, let him go. It made sense and when Alfie was there practically full time we let them change the chip details. They changed his name to Sam too. Funny thing was, after living with them for a while he had a night out after a few weeks and by 9.00 next morning the area was blitzed with "have you seen our cat" leaflets! He’d only been missing for 12 hours! I saw him prowling in the alley behind our garden, phoned them up and saw the lady with her husband and a cat box dashing past our house to collect him. This must have been about 10 years ago and we still see Alfie/Sam stroll past occasionally - he totally blanks us when we call him though!

Biting open a chocolate bar that is wrapped insilver lined paper, such as a Crunchie, and feeling an electric shock through your teeth!

This was in my childhood when I never had fillings. Still haunts me to this day and I can't eat Crunchies.

Really? When I was a kid (No fillings until 19) I could happily chew aluminium foil.

Had another haircut by Mrs Mottie today. She keeps nagging me to go to the barbers but like I said before, my regular one was taking no precautions - last time I went he had two mates in there, unmasked, having a conversation with him plus I’ve seen him picking up my neighbour in his car and this neighbour and his family haven’t abided by any social distancing rules. There’s a new place in town, Mr Barbers, a chain of barbers and they seem to have good Covid rules. £19 for a haircut but only £10 for the over 60’s. I’m 62 but I’d feel a right tight old git asking for a ten quid pensioner special. Then again, it'd stick in my throat paying £19 when I could be paying a tenner! I might pluck up the courage next time.

Had to go over Lakeside, Thurrock, today to pick up a few bits. Everyone was wearing masks except for one knucklehead anti-masker who was arguing with the security guards in the Mall. All he kept saying was "it’s not a legal requirement, it’s not a legal requirement". He was with two others but they had masks on. He must have been in his late thirties, early forties. They let him go and when he was a good distance away, he shouted "YOU ****ING MORONS". What a tosser. (n)

Surely just that? Our financial year is up in two days time, I just give them a spreadsheet of all my outgoings, incomings and bank statements and they do our accounts and corp tax submissions. Actually, I don’t give them to them until April as they do our personal tax returns at the same time.

Re-felting the shed roof with Mrs Secure. I can't climb ladders anymore, so a bit limited.

We have decided to fit some old felt as an underlay (nailing it to the roof) and then use some roofing felt adhesive to stick the top layer onto that.

The underlay we have fitted length-ways, and I've just been thinking we should have done this layer "up and over" so the top layer goes length-ways. This way the sheets of felt are laid so the rain has less chance of getting underneath when running down each side of the pitched roof.

Arrrghhh!!

So you stuck the top layer perpendicular to the roof pitch?

Haven't stuck on the top layer yet. The "underlay" is parallel to the long sides of the roof.
The top layer will go up to the apex and down the other side.
I think I've forked up....:(

Just stagger it by half a width then. Though I'm not sure about using old felt as underlay.

Not sure what you mean. But then, I'm tired and not the quickest off the blocks anyway...

Seemed like a good idea at the time!
The adhesive instructions said not to put the adhesive directly on the wood, it would not stick properly. It was their suggestion to nail an underlay to the roof first, then use adhesive to stick the top layer to that.

Funny, I imagined Ryler as being older than that. :ROFLMAO:
