Can someone help find this bathroom light fitting?

Hi folks,

I'm new here as I didn't know where else to turn.

I am in the UK and am looking to find an exact replacement light fitting for my circular bathroom light.

I have tried Screwfix/Tradepoint but both stores looked at me like I had 2 heads. Have also tried googling the code on the light fitting "DETA 7044CH" but the resulting links lead to eBay posts for different typed fittings with different bulbs.

Please see my photos attached, I have also uploaded a photo of the bulb that goes with the fitting. I can get the bulbs from Screwfix but not the actual fitting.

Any advice is much appreciated as we have been showering with the phone torch for about 2 weeks now. (lol)

the 2D lamp is long obsolete. You might find a driver somewhere, but nobody makes a ceiling light anymore

but you can get round frosted ceiling lamps suitable for bathrooms in "flying saucer" style. You'll need about 1400 lumens to match the light from the old one.

they mostly will have either non-replaceable LEDs, or, if you are lucky, one or more SES sockets for LED candles or similar. I got a large and a small one in Wickes around a year ago. Homebase and John Lewis have a good range.

You will have to unscrew the old one from the ceiling, after turning off the power. There may be three different cables. Mark and photograph each cable and the coloured cores from each. You will need to connect them to the new light in the same way.

What is the height of the ceiling above the floor?

I bought it last week thinking it was the same, but opened it and realised it took a different (standard looking) bulb.

What is the height of the ceiling above the floor?

I can't check right now but I'd guess around 3m.

Is the fitting Chrome, you could get a Deta 7044WH white or a Deta 7044BK Black one and likely the inside will fit, failing that just buy an Electronic ballast for inside

I have an idea those drum-type lamps don't have a "ceiling rose" connector inside.

Can you photograph whatever lighting terminals you see in the two lights?

A different bulb type is not a problem, these days there is no need for special bulb connectors, BC, SBC, SES and SES can be used with mains-voltage LED lamps, and IMO the multiplicity of lamp sockets is no longer needed. The listing for your fiting says it takes an ES bulb. This means "Edison Screw," the large one about an inch in diameter. For around the same amount of light as your old one gave, an LED bulb like this would be suitable.

Screwfix will have something similar. You can change to a little less or a little more power if you find it too bright or too dim. it is about as bright as an old 100Watt incandescent bulb. if there's not much room, you could use a candle or other shape, if you can get one of enough power. About 15Watts LED, Warm White, Edison Screw 27.



As the ceiling height is more than 2250mm, we don't need to worry about it.

If the ballast is gone then get one of these

and bypass the ballast, take a picture of the insides and we can tell you what to cut and joint to do that

(Im asusming you tried a new lamp in it?)

If you want to replace the fitting, then that stye of fitting is available off the shelf from practiably anywhere, it won't be exactly the same but they are all much of a muchness execpt most are LED now. This is probably the closest style to the one you have

They are, the 4 pin one, but I believe he can get the lamps Ok and its the actual light fitting he is after, the fitting is still in the DETA cataloque and I believe he may have the CHROME colour version

Yes the original is chrome, a white or black would be fine if it's a lot easier than other poster have suggested as neither me or my partner are electrically inclined lol.

2D lamps were designed for applications where they were left on for hours at a time or even 24/7.
Totally unsuitable for situations where they are switched regularly and used for short periods.
