No it wasn't, the immigrants mostly killed all of the indigenous population and rounded the rst up into internment camps.

The first British to settle in the northern areas were peaceful, going there to set up a new colony. They actually welcomed helped from natives originally, there were some relationships between British and natives. The natives also helped them when they struggled with food, and introduced them to pumpkins - the place was covered in them but the starving Brits didn't realise they could be eaten. But things went bad later.

The south couldn't be more different - business minded people went there to make money.

Obviously more complex than that, but these were the core ideas I learned when studying early American history.

Its really simple what Republicans do.

"Vote for us, you don't like the situation as it is. Vote for us we will make it better". They never define how they will make it better.

After they vote for them and your situation doesn't improve.

"Your situation stinks but if you vote for the other party it will be even worse".

Rinse and repeat.

The UK electorate are as easily manipulated.

All people are easily manipulated. It's always been the case.
Politicians, magicians, salesmen, media and others are just getting better at doing it.

You have to put that into a historical context as well as looking at the media landscape. The Government requires the tools to manipulate the public.

Wonder if Trump's on the golf course just now with a few trusted sycophants around him saying 'you still the man, oh YEAH!' every 20 secs ...

Of course. Sort of swings back to the creation of racism. People were never naturally racist, the UK government and media created the idea of Africans being savages to ensure people did not object to slavery in the southern colonies. People are still racist today and do not even realise it is because of propaganda that started centuries ago. But that's old news.

Yeah, usually once the foothold had been established ...

Probably! Although I think these last few weeks we've seen Trump more active in politics than at any time in the 4 years he was president.

When you study leadership, what drives people to seek it and their traits, the end result is we usually end up with people in positions of power that are ****s to varying degrees and yes, sometimes very dangerous ****s. Look at the political class, largely comprises ****s. Takes a particular sort of individual. Rarely are these level-headed people with no hidden agenda that do what they do for the genuine good of the people.

It'll never change ...

Lies are easily believed, especially when they mirror your own sentiments.
True of everybody Razzler...The remoaners tried desperately for years for another referendum to gain a majority because you know very well it carries much more weight than "" guidance only"".Boris Johnson was the man of the moment after years of remoaner tricks to deny the ref result. He promised Brexit and he delivered...Leave US politics out of the UK.

When North Africans kidnapped Cornish peoples did they say they were savages to ensure people did not object to slavery in the
North Africa.

I appreciate you may not have studied African slavery..

If you say diversity to the bloke on the street he will think - more blacks, more women.

But diversity covers peoples backgrounds - it would be nice change that the PM didn't come from the Eton / Oxford set.

Since 1945 we have had 14 PM - of which 11 went to Oxford and 5 to Eton.
