If we had not left the EU, we would have still been part of the EU's purchasing and approval protocols, the AZ vaccine would not have been approved for use in the UK until today! How many lives will have been saved since being out of the EU we started using it 5 or 6 weeks ago and have probably dished out 4 or 5 million doses.

I think that's what's peeved them off the most.

Though officially brexit had nothing to do with it according to the Eurocrats.

Our government have made a huge number of cock ups over the past year. It's nice to see something good they've done for a change

The EU has managed to unite the UK and Irish governments, all UK political parties, the Republicans, the Nationalists, the provos and the loyalists in one fell swoop.

The UK could have done exactly the same thing while being in the EU as could any other country in it.

Sure they are peeved but be real about it. It's down to not getting a fair share and that's that. Plus of course deliveries being low. Maybe they should have expected that. Also more than one UK plant being one of the sources they can use. That is probably the main aspect really. The contract mentions all AZ sources even ones that don't exist. They also think that profiteering may be going on as there was with masks etc. Pharma companies aren't angels. Far from it usually.

So they have passed a law that all vaccine exports must be reported. What, how much and where to. They have used article 16 to include the Irish boarder. Mountains can be made of that but it depends on exactly what they choose to do there. Highly likely to be the same reports.

Beeb reporting was pretty flat. C4 found some pundits to push it a little assuming that they will block exports and keep the lot themselves. Who knows. The fact that they get reports on exports will show if they are not getting a proportional quantity of vaccine. If they aren't ..................

So currently there is no way of knowing how it will end but I expect the result to be some UK AZ production going to the EU.

'Cause they agreed to. One of our strong points isn't it - always agreeing what they all agree to do. We were in it anyway when the contracts were signed.
