As we haven't had a Brexit thread for a while,
I understand from expat sites that France is not exchanging UK driving licences for French Permit de Conduire, unless a new driving test is taken.
I'm OK I did mine some time ago, when I reached that age that UK licences need some medical clearance.

In addition:
Lord Frost: Brexit negotiator joins cabinet to deal with EU
He will also replace Michael Gove as co-chair of a committee on implementing the Brexit withdrawal deal.

Also, I understand that UK artists now have to apply for appropriate permissions from every EU country that they wish to visit.
I'm informed that EU offered conditions to UK for an EU wide scheme, which the UK rejected. Now artists have to apply to each and every country on a country by country basis.

Driving in France is dangerous.
They all drive on the wrong side of the road.

Not all of them.

Brits drive on the left when they go over there.

U.K. driving license to German, Greek etc license. Then EU license = job done for driving that 2cv to the bread shop.

In order to do that you have to become resident in the country of your licence choice...

"You must apply for a licence in the country where you usually or regularly live. As a general rule, it is the country where you live for at least 185 days each calendar year because of personal or work-related ties."

Oops, can't now do that without getting a well paid job and employment visa...

I've been to France, I had no idea they took a driving test.
A minimum of 20 hours (it may be 30 hours these days) driving tuition is required before anyone can take a test.
As in UK it's a two part test. But at a minimum of €1,000 for the driving tuition it's probably cheaper to go through the legal route than to try to buy an illegal licence. But the school will usually complete the whole process of obtaining your learner licence, booking the tests, etc. Thus any possibility of Aunt Josephine completing the test on another's behalf is removed.
Driving instruction in France is one of the protected occupations, and schools and instructors must be state registered and approved, and instructors are only allowed to operate via the schools, so any 'bent' instructors will be extremely hard to find.
Instructors will only submit a pupil when they consider them ready. There is a mechanism that encourages this process. The number of tests available in France are limited, so it's in a school's interest to only submit pupils that will pass, in order to improve the school's pass rate.

In addition, newly passed drivers are required to follow a one year probationary period, with only six points allowable on their licence, reduced speeds on major roads, etc.

In the case of Greece you would obtain a FIP permit. Having a bank account with access to 50k Euro is all you need. No need for a well paid job or employment visa.

I actually love driving in France.. High quality tarmac, good lane discipline if a little regimented and a busy motorway looks like the m25 at 2AM

You forgot the bit about having a regular income.
(the 50K is just two years advance)

And that FIP-visa holders are now required to be present in Greece for at least six months each year to qualify for renewal.

But the average brexiteer wouldn't have two farthings to rub together anyway
