Big different to motivation and response though.
A cop dealing with a middle-class white man might be more patient and willing to try harder to ease the situation, than he would be with a young black man who sounds poorly educated.

That is the problem, that is what they call racial prejudice, unconscious bias etc. The policeman would not admit to it when questioned, but in the heat of the moment they make decisions based on their deep-set opinions and bias towards different people.

Of course, some are just simply racist and kill because they know, or maybe now knew, that they'd get away with it. A white cop's word against a dead black man ...
