Afghanistan -is leaving the right thing?

Its not surprising that some here love the idea of funding civil wars in other countries. The Empire is dead guys, get over it.

Britain is no longer a major player militarily on the world stage.

Rather then egging on civil war in Afghanistan, back off, move out, take our noses out and allow these people to make peace and then slowly start developing their nations. Afghanistan gas a lot of natural resources and mineral wealth. If invested in by regional powers, and no damned war, Afghanistan could well develop into a prosperous nation. I hope they will.

Whereas some idiotic guys here in the UK want to live out their warped fantasies by seeing wars in others lands so they can discuss it online.

Leave the Afghans to decide their own fate. We have been well and truly humiliated and defeated over there. Lets bring all the troops home and start spending those billions building our hospitals, our roads, building more schools here, more NHS GP surgeries etc.

Also lets see real justice. Lets see those American Blackwater terrorists, those private military contractors, those rapists and child killers brought to justice for their many war crimes in Afghanistan.

We lost the war. Time to get out and allow the Afghans to finally have peace.

Part of Afghanistan should be occupied so that that particular part is safe for the non-Taliban normal Afghan citizens. The Taliban can have the rest of the country and smoke opium there.

2) china, russia, iran, pakistan, even turkey are saying they will recognise a taliban government

3) even boris has hinted at working with the taliban

4) a lot of those afghans trying to flee collaborated with the west in bombing Afghanistan so of course they are desperate to get out. Imagine how we would feel towards brits that supported and helped the nazis during WW2?

5) sone of these afghans are opportunist economic migrants

6) this atempt to flee is only seen in kabul. Evetywhete else, even according to BBC news is relatively peaceful and back to normal.

So please take your obsession with war and wanting to continue this mess and shove it up your behind.

The reason the US is retreating, defeated, is that public opinion will not allow it to engage in a war where Americans get killed. The American defeat in battle at Mogadishu in 1993 showed how it works. Hundreds of Somalis were estimated to have died. Some 18 Americans and two UN soldiers were killed. Within six months, the US had withdrawn its forces from Somalia.

Correct, but when public opinion went against American soldiers risking their lives against the Japanese in WW2, America used the atomic bomb. Wouldn't a few atom bombs sort Afghanistan out? How many would it take / how much would it cost / is anybody seriously thinking about the nuclear option these days?

I think most sane people would hate those aspects of America
