No Gas..

Landlord visited today. Will not pay in his name as he doesn't live here?

He's making the payer call up EDF and say that he's moving out so another resident can put in his name as a bill or PAYG. I refused to put it in my name. I looks mlike we will be on PAYG by the end of the week...
If you're paying for gas as part of your rent, but gas is not being provided, time to start withholding your rent and let your landlord sort it out.

It's paid direct to the landlord...
Exactly. You're paying rent to your landlord which includes money for gas. He's taking the money, but not providing you with gas. Time to stop paying the rent until he provides what you're paying him for.

There is no incentive for the landlord to sort this out unless he feels some financial pain.

The challenge is, depending on what is or isn't written down in a formal or at least semi-formal document, the more difficult these things are to prove.

He knocks off £40 to the current bill nonpayer's rent. I did ask what was happening to the current money tho ugh if it's not paying for fuel..
That's not your problem though. You are paying the landlord for gas as part of your rent. He's not providing gas, therefore you are entitled to withhold your rent.

It's paid direct to the landlord from my Universal Credit.
I have no idea what the mechanism to stop that is, but there must be a way. You're paying for something you're not receiving.

I could have the payments sent to me, but I don't trust myself. I am an alcoholic.
Im sorry to hear that -addiction is a terrible thing
