As I said previously, reach out to Kettering Council. See if they can get you into a separate dwelling (like a flat) and help that imo you seem to need.

It sounds like the landlord is operating an HMO as a joint tenancy. Are you all basically named tenants? I wonder if the landlord has the correct licenses
You only need a licence for a hmo of more than 5 people I believe

I take my proverbial hat off to you for having your rent paid directly to the landlord. It's just a pity based on what you're saying that they're not a bit more helpful to those staying in the property for which they're responsible.
Has possibly been said already in previous pages, maybe approaching the likes of Shelter and/or Citizens Advice for advice and assistance would be your best bet.

My sister has been an alcoholic since the early 90s.
She has never admitted it though.
But recently she had a massive health scare where her consultant basically told her if she did not stop right now, she would soon be dead.
She has stopped.
I think you are in a great position to get help with your addiction and I wish you the very best.

So sorry to hear that. Could you have them sent to a trusted friend or relative who could pay the rent for you and buy bottled gas for you with what’s left over?

It can be as low as 3, and it’s deemed an hmo at 5. If you have shared facilities and independently pay rent to the landlord, then it sounds like your house of 5 is an HMO.
did you pay a deposit individually? Was it protected? Are you jointly liable for rent ? I suspect this agreement would be very difficult to enforce in any eviction hearing. Of course dodgy landlords find other way to get tenants out.
it is worth getting shelter or citizens advice to review the agreement. There are plenty of retired lawyers who volunteer for these charities
There is a fund set up by the big energy suppliers as part of ofgems overseeing role. Your energy supplier is duty bound to help you if you are struggling to pay.
Contact edf energy and tell them of your situation, if they fail to provide any assistance then ask to state a complaint and send it to Jim Poole who is the Director of CustomerOperations.
I used to work for edf but unfortunately most of my contacts in Customer Services or Field Ops will have moved on by now.

No, a resident. Landlord refuses to be involved.
