What do you proper sparks do when connecting external wall lights using conduit, but when the lights are not bulkhead or suchlike that the conduit can connect to?

Do you run a bit of flex from a conduit box or gland to the light fitting or do you run some conduit right up to the fitting and adapt it somehow to receive the cable?

The problem I have is that I'm looking at some lights but they all seem to have rear cable entry from the wall or suchlike, but I need to run the cable to them along the outside of the wall - which will be via conduit.

Sometimes mount a small box on the end of the conduit then butt the light up to it, if needbe chasing in a short bit of flex between the two so the cable is out of site behind both

Make a pattress plate thick enough to bring the conduit upwards behind the lamp. Upwards to prevent water getting behind the pattress.

This shows a round pattress, for neatness the pattress could be shaped to match the rear of the lamp

So, the consensus is not a section of flex from a box or gland. :cautious:

If the light fitting has bottom/side entry, then do use glands and black flex, but you said rear entry, which b****rs everything up!!
