Yeah this is the interesting part. Most industry people are saying guns are usually pointed slightly away from the target (then sorted post production, use of camera angles etc) or if the scene requires the gun to be pointed directly at someone, shields are usually used.As I see it, and this is nothing new, there are two simple rules that I thought the general public would already know:
1) In the acting world, fake props are ALWAYS to be used, for example swords, knives, razors, guns, scissors etc.
2) NEVER point a gun at anyone, non-loaded or loaded.
Too many idiots out there.
Since the person he shot wouldn't have even been a character in the film, why was the gun directed at her?
Serious disregard in safety here...
The last thing on the black box flight recorder according to my pilot mates is usually “no, I think it’s ok”I heard once that when people are accidentally shot, it is usually with a gun that "wasn't loaded. Definitely. I always check. It couldn't have been. Couldn't happen. Never."
Are there any Rock Apes in the room?
I'm only askin' 'cos most of this thread is pure comedy gold, & I think a Rock Ape would understand why I think so . . . .
He's only one of the many firearm experts here.Let me guess, in-between leaving the SAS, becoming a successful property developer and inventing the internet, you were a weapons specialist on films.
FFS mate, give it up, you're just making a nob of yourself.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. This is a fact that lots of folk don't seem to be able to understand. A gun cannot jump up out of its box & begin to merrily exterminate anyone it see's. It needs someone to pick it up & to either use or misuse it.
If you disagree with me then let's swap the word "gun" for any object that can be used to kill someone. Please don't immediately substitute it with the word "knife", because that is something that is inside your head. You could just as easily kill someone with a house brick as you could a knife or a gun.
So let us not think that it was the gun that did anything wrong here . . . . !
I am indeed very knowledgeable with regards to firearms, guns (& such stuff) have always been a major part of my life thus far & I have consciously never persued my involvement with them as a means of income. I tried to stay away from the 'shoot' this morning 'cos I knew it would be all about Alec (bloody) Baldwin but I didn't . . . . We had a brief chat about it & dismissed it, because we cannot stop stupid happening no matter what we do.
Something went HORRIBLY wrong here, you cannot imagine just how HORRIBLY wrong it went unless you too have personally experienced a similar situation, & most folk who are or have ever been involved with firearms will have a few tales to tell . . . .
I posted my "comedy gold" comment because most of the bollux some of you have contributed so far on this thread is indeed COMEDY GOLD. It would be funny if it wasn't in such tragic circumstances !
There you go chaps. There's enuff material there to selectively copy, paste & quote while you sit in your mothers back bedroom in your underpants & spout your uninformed BILE on your audience.
I cannot remember my first lesson in how to handle a firearm, but I do remember that one of the first things I learned is that whenever a lethal weapon is passed to you . . . IT IS YOUR JOB TO CHECK THAT WEAPON IS SAFE.
