Ealing council smoking police

The same taxes should be levied on tobacco and alcohol.

The duty on cigarettes is currently about £3.52, on top of that consumers pay 20 VAT and an additional 16.5% (ie 26.5%)

A 70cl bottle of spirits (40% alcohol) attracts a duty of £7.90, plus VAT at 20%. I recently purchased a bottle of vodka for a friend- it was £13. Remove the VAT and it was £10.83, minus the duty and it would have cost £2.93. That said it was 37% alcohol and not 40% so the duty was probably lower.

You said "the state on public health" which does not make sense, secondly name calling suggest you have a mental age of about 10, now then have you ever been in a supermarket? they are chock full of sugar laden food & drink, fatty foods, alcohol, tobacco, the full works, what do you think about them? No name calling please
McDonald's promote their food as nutritious but the reality is that it is processed junk food , high in fat, sugar and salt, and low in fibre and vitamins. A diet directly linked with a greater risk of heart disease cancer, diabetes and other diseases.
At least there’s a balanced choice in a supermarket.

The issue seems to be the outsourcing of enforcement, which creates incentives. The "wardens" or whatever they are called have no power of arrest, beyond that of an ordinary citizen and since the offence in question is rarely indictable (graffiti or damages over 5k would be indictable) only a warranted officer can arrest. So it would seem the clued up person would simply walk or even run away. Being threatened with arrest, for talking to someone, probably works well for the "warden" as most people know that obstructing a constable etc. would get you arrested and wouldn't know the "warden" has no power.

The legislation is clear that refusing to give your name and address is an offence but i can't see anything in the legislation that says the wardens can physically stop you walking away.
Do wardens have the power to detain someone against their will.

They have same powers as a citizen. Power of arrest only for indictable offences and the right to claim self defence preventing a crime.

It does not change the fact that you commit an offence by refusing to provide your details. A PCSO (power to stop) or proper police officer in the vicinity, would change that.

Police officers are also incentivised to issue FPNs, so you take your chances.

Not obsessed , they’re just the biggest and should set the best example.

Plenty of time to come up with your fantasy plan, or maybe there isn't one

maybe they could start with giving the free toy with salad or fruit or a healthy drink instead of ‘chicken nuggets’ . Not rocket science is it?

Groundbreaking, you reckon all the lardies will go for that, people go to fast food outlets for just that, if they want an apple they can go to a fruit shop

Maybe vape shops could give carrots out and off-licenses could sell smoothies?

A few years ago I attended a meeting where people were objecting to a new McD near me, they complained that we would see an increase in rubbish (and we did).
We also however saw an increase in the jobs, somewhere for our youths to go in the evening, a Brownfield site being used and the outlet is always very busy (little competition around here).

Thing is, all the rubbish you see near McDonalds outlets is not put there by McDonalds.
It IS put there by their customers, by the public who use them.
The lazy arsed barstewards that just discard their fast food wrappings for someone else to pick up, so it does not matter if it's McD, KFC, BK or any other fast food outlet.
It's the people not the outlet.
