I recently moved into a house with this alarm system. Two questions:

(1) Is this a good alarm system?

(2) How do I reset it?

(3) Which forum should I have posted this query in? (Perhaps a sub- forum, "Home Security"

Hi, I'm not 100% about this, but i think i'm right in saying that if you want to reset it back to the default settings you will have to:
Remove mains & battery supply
Then you will have to put a screwdriver across the NVM pins (RHS), then connect battery for 3 secs and then remove screwdriver.
Close lid reconnect mains power.
Once this is done, you should be back to the default settings -
User code - 1234
Eng code - 9999

That should enable you to use it.

Let me know me know how you get on.

it'll need reprogramming though, surely?

It will reprogramme everthing back to default settings - usually 30secs entry/exit, bell duration 15/20mins etc.

That's like saying, "It's approximately 10.03 and 52 seconds!!!"

either get a manual for it (good luck) or get some thing good

Hi.

I have this alarm system. It was in the house when i bought it. The previous owner just gave me the code and showed me how to use it.

Last night there was a power cut in my street and all the alarms went off including mine. i just entered the code and it stopped as usaual. The problem arose when the electric supply in the street was turned back on and the normal code woud n't deactivate it. In the end i had to unplug the battery and i (and the neighbours) had to put up with the box tweeting outside all night. This has occured before, and that time i didn't have any problems. I think i must have pressed some wrong buttons or something

Anyway, this morning i checked on the internet for a manual, etc. but no luck. Eventually i came accross this site and fixed the problem.

I just want to thank everyone on here and particularly Luminaire above, who's advice i followed to return the alarm to it's default settings. It really works!!

Now all i need to know is how to change the code, as burgulars will i'm sure try 1234 !

You'll also need a new battery for the control panel, unless you want to treat your neighbours to another night of disruption when you have another power cut

To continue on from my last post, i have now found how to change the code from 1234 (after the unit is returned to default mode using the method Luminaire described above) to your own choice of numbers:

1. Enter the code 1234 (or the code you have been using) and there should be a green light followed by 4 red lights in the display.

2. Enter your new security code. As you type each number a red light should go out.

3. After typing the four numbers of your new code, and the red lights have gone out, press the tick button.

4. Try arming your alarm as usual. Enter the new code and this should deactivate it.

Hi Scott1980

Doesn't the battery re-charge itself off the mains when re-connected? What about the battery in the outside box.? Do they need replacing or do they re-charge?

Where would i get these batteries?

Thanks.

When a battery is old you can't do anything with it - just like an old car battery.

You can get both batteries at Maplins.

I've looked under the battery cover for the NVM p
all; no reset/RHS. How can I identify them?

How can I identify the NVM/RHS pins?
They're not indicated.

Hi Greg.

Maybe you have now found the 2 pins, but as i remember they were just to the bottom left of the keypad. Once it is reset though, you will have a new set of problems. All functions will be back to default, ie entry/exit times, zone alarm choices, walkthru zones, etc.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
There are so many electrical connections on the electriical board. How can I be sure which is the right one?
I've got all the codes ect for the default settings; There won't be much of a problem resetting the default settings, apart from these will there?
Thanks.
Greg.
