Woke up to this eyesore being built close to my boundary. From checking planning regs, it seems to say that structures should not be built on a platform, whereas this is, and if within 2 metres of the boundary, should not be higher than 2.5 meters. Not measure yet but to my eye it does look taller. Bit ****ed off as neighbour did not even consult me. What do people think?

Why should your neighbours consult you about what they are doing in their own garden?
Do you consult your neighbours before you do anything in your garden?

If it is major bit of construction, yes, it is expected. Glad you are not my neighbour, but cheers for the helpful reply

I'm glad you aren't my neighbour spying on me and posting pictures of me and my workers on the Internet.
Ps the neighbours shed looks like it will be nice when it's finished stop being jealous.
I think you should concentrate on your own garden especially that tatty fence ruining next doors new shed

We aim to please! :p

To be serious for a moment, you seem to be in an elevated position to take your photo?

You mean their fence? Yep, should really get onto them about that. Thanks for the reminder

Actually, you can't trespass the eyes. If the Op can see it, he can photograph it.

IMHO it could be debatable position wise, there are rules concerning distance from the boundary and height.
It looks to be a good 3M? the guy is half a metre up on a ladder, and if he's 6 foot there's a long way to the apex.

The good news? is that the front looks to me to be intended as being left open.
therefore not a drum practice room or gym.
Hopefully just a covered shelter.

Is it OK to photograph people in their garden and post the photo online ?
Just because you can see something does not mean you are allowed to take a photo

What does it look like from the ground floor/within your garden then? As mentioned you are probably steppng close to if not breaking the law taking photos of individuals on private land too btw.
It looks high, which is why I'm posting. Took elevated image to show how near to boundary

No, I don't think they are. Looks like the site is sloping so height will be measured from highest adjacent ground - looks like far corner. Bloke is prob about 1.8m, so looks like the ridge is ~2.5m. Looks like a fair bit is external floor area, so as long as internal floor area is <15sqm they can build within 1m of boundary in timber. It looks like it is within PD regs to me.
