human rights lawyers have blocked 1st plane of asylum seekers to Rwanda

UK law is based on interpretation/precedent/convention/parliamentary decree...

Thus no written constitution = no actual absolute rights in UK law!
Comments use to just say we didn't have a constitution. Feeling left out we seem to have decided there is one :) but it's not really clear what it is.

My feeling is that use of the word was by none gov brexit supporters or by those in private situations talking to supporters etc. As a result gov uk links now come up saying we have one. I suppose it's a nice simple word to use but for all countries it's a bit more complicated than that.

:) Take brexit for or against arguments about that comment - they would be irrelevent. Things are as they are in or out.

My main beef about Brexit is techniques used and over simplification., An ever increasing problem with modern western democracies. That made worse via mass media where yet more get an oar in. I frown on the usual strings been pulled that are known to be effective being pulled as well - nationalism and racial aspects. The world is too complex for one and on the other wonder about various bits of gov's aims and ;legislation that recognise it as a problem. The fact that some thought they voted for a party that would cease doing that sort of thing were clearly mislead as they wont stop.

Lawyers / legal profession :giggle:

The “‘scheisters” one of the few professions were you actually get paid for failure

There was that post office settlement that those wrongly accused post masters brought
The majority of the finacial settlement was taken up with paying the lawyers and other legal rip off merchants

The victims ended up with a pittance

Lawyers a lot of em end up in politics as politicians

Yes exactly

The longer they string it out, the more they make as a fee. Sorting that mess out took years and was an absolute disgrace.

Where ever there are legal obligations some will question them and lawyers will be involved on both sides of the argument.

The same will always apply if the "laws" exist.

The more astute might realise that this Rwanda farce will help them to justify changes to our human rights laws. That crops up soon as well. It can be used to illustrate "problems" with the court of human rights re over ruling or coming to different conclusions. These can be sorted out in the same court. It's also possible to be in the EU and give the countries the right to over rule them in their own courts. Your being led by the nose.

The catch really is that the rights are enshrined in various places. All very similar and international. They can always be used to delay "things" via some court or the other even our own.

Maybe the law will be replaced with Priti says. Perhaps we could have a referndum on each refugee. Fact is the usual rules will be applied. Some will succeed many more will fail. That is how it has always been even in the EU.

Given years 1,000's upon 1,000's may finish up in Rwanda at the rate of maybe a few hundred a year.

Some, if not most, of the lawyers were working for free here.

He was referring to the post office horizon accounting scandal were hundreds of sub post masters were accused of theft

Some imprisoned

Many lost there savings and there homes

Scheister lawyers were employed by the post office to seek a way of weaselling out of the scandal

Lawyers made millions in fees out of it the post office people got what
20 grand ??? In damages

What about there human rights

The Government wangled it’s way out paying the legal costs of the first tranche of postmasters, and spent ten times as much money defending their own faulty system as was paid out in compensation.
the majority of the postmasters did get their compensation as the lawyers claimed off the Post Office.
The rules were then changed to allow the original postmasters to get the same amount

As you have to atone for all the dodgy plumbers around?

No I do not as all the dodgy plumbers do not (or in the majority of cases)have there snouts in the public purse

Blimey these scheisters actually get paid if they lose a case

If that's the case fine but in terms of Rwanda problems being significant to changes to human rights laws - well they are spookily close time wise and illustrate some of the arguments in the forthcoming bill. So the more problems they have the better it will look. In fact a Tory said we need our own human rights bill. Others have said drop out of the court.

There is a catch what ever they do. Human rights will still figure and asylum seekers who are refused will appeal. That may grant them asylum or it might not.

440 arrived today.

Eeeeek the Court of Human Rights figures in the good friday agreement.

Want to sort out some of these cases

Get that judge Judy In from the states :giggle:
