RAAC

Who ignored the Aero Concrete problem until it became a crisis?

Nothing is ever the fault of the Tories. They are becoming scoundrels, like the French, blaming other people.

Edit: Sorry, I came over all transam for a moment there....

A couple of misunderstandings going on; Raac didn't have a design life of 30 years when it was installed. When it was discovered that some raac buildings had problems, the BRE predicted that in certain circumstances some raac panels may have a design life of only 30 years. That's not the same as saying raac buildings had a design life of 30 years. Some 30 year old buildings are fine and showing no signs of excessive deterioration.
Not according to all sort of authorities.
It was originally part of a "block system" of building, which was expected to last 30-40 years. It was always going to fail before the rest of the normally constructed building which would have had a life exp of 70-80 years.. It wasn't fit for purpose in the first place.

Nobody said it had an expected life of 30 years only after they'd found problems.

Crap product, because once it starts to degrade it fails catastrophically. If a brick cracks, it still takes weight. As soon as this cruncy bar's surface is breached, it's full of water, = failed. And that was known and written about inthe 90's.

We could hold the people who were told three years ago there was a critical risk to life and a need to repair 400 schools a year to keep up with the issue, who then funded 50.

They're still alive.

I never knew they only funded 50 schools. It seems strange as my town has 5 secondary schools. 3 of which are new and another on the way And to mention a relatively new College (that don't count)
No new primary schools.

Isn't it scary how bad the Torys are that Labour are still trusted less to run the country. Sad how poor our politics is.

I've got friendly with our local labour candidate from the Gym and school. Unless the torys pull something out the bag , he will get my vote next time round.

People have very short memories.

Just before election time the Tories will "pull something out the bag" to keep the easily led on side.

You need to judge them longer term. A 1 month promotion before election is exactly that.

If you want more of the same, keep voting for the same.

That's not going to help keep you happy.

Keegan feels aggrieved because she was actually doing something but should remember she voted for the budget where rishi cut the school rebuilding programme. After Grendel you might have thought the government would take unsuitable building panels more seriously.

Blup
