What Have Fourteen Years of Conservative Rule Done to Britain?

^^ tough subjects that no politicians will want to discuss for fear of upsetting people.

And hence the mess we’re in. Social media plays a huge part in this

The Tories must be doing well, as it's only taken half the country 14 years to realise what they are up to, whereas they managed 18 years the last time.

By doing well, I obviously mean, doing well for themselves, not fo the country.

Some might say, they should have been more careful, with their corrupt dealings!

The main parties are virtually identical.

It is not normal to choose a party leader who is notoriously a dishonest liar, like Johnson, or an incompetent idiot, like Truss.

Didn’t take me long to realise Labour had lost control the economy in 2005

What do you mean, Japan is a very unhappy country? Can you explain what that actually means?

Japan comes about 50 for happiness, the UK about 20. I've seen various articles over the years. There's a lot of social pressure to conform and also work insane hours etc. and it's a very regimented culture. Lots of young people have stopped having sex. The official suicide rate is between two and three times higher, but many think it is a lot higher than that. It might suit some people on here, but it's such a different place that it's not much use as a comparison for us.

It's hard to see that politics can't be influenced by that plus various players that are all over the place using it. The worst ones are likely be those looking for clicks = money. Much easier than owning a newspaper.

It is absolutely normal, and the other parties have idiots as well. Have you not noticed?

The banks did as COVID did. As other factors do at times.

The banks. The news sometimes sticks in my head. Labour talking about legislation applying to the banks. Cameron what legislate the banks, you can't do that.

I don't believe in any surveys about happiness - far too subjective, and what a Dane means when they respond may by be totally different to what a Korean means.

Also, I am not suggesting we should be the same as Japan, we should be what we are - there was a lot less doubt about this until the recent past. The lessons we take from the Japanese are that there will be more social harmony, higher levels of trust, and long term stability if we do not needlessly transform ourselves into a globalist cesspit, which we are doing. Living in a low trust society doesn't make people happy, nor do high rates of violent crime, creeping restrictions on what people can and cannot say, or all the confusion going on. We have a political elite that cannot even say what the difference between men and women is!

You seem to be extremely unhappy!

750,000+ (net) coming in per annum, in addition to all the illegals, is obviously going to put a great strain on our public services and infrastructure, especially when so many of them are low wage and low skill and are not making a net contribution to the exchequer
Wrong

Do more research

They also drive down the per capita GDP
no they dont

anti natalist agenda going
No we dont

linked to batshit environmentalism, that discourages people - especially working, intelligent and law abiding natives - from having children
Utter bolox.

Cost of living
High cost of childcare
Unaffordable housing

Are the reasons for people being discouraged from having children

It is also increasingly unaffordable for people in the broad middle to have children
People like you should stop voting for right wing parties then

I haven't written anything that could give you any indication of my emotional state.

Can you not discuss a serious subject without it having to involve emotions, guessing what they might be, and using childish words like "happy"?

A massive number of people in this country are being medicated for anxiety and depression (~25%) - and they're just the ones who were in such a state that they sought out medical help, many are more borderline, and are drinking heavily or using recreational drugs. I don't think the Japanese are being medicated on the same level, or abusing drugs and alcohol to cope on anywhere near the same level.

We have to consider what is different about this country now compared to points in time in the past, including the recent past, look beyond our shores for examples of how to be as a society, and figure out where we are going wrong.

Focusing on political parties: waste of time. They're all crap and essentially the same. Uniparty.

Focusing on specific politicians: e.g I don't like Boris. Waste of time. They are all freaks, what do you expect?

Focusing on one or two issues and missing the other 50: waste of time.

Focusing on what the TV or Netflix productions tell us: propaganda for the current regime, waste of time.

So what has changed and why are things getting worse for the average person? Worse access to dentistry and health service, worse standard of living, more fear of crime, less trust and sense of community, more fear about the future - including fear that the world will boil us all alive, less people having families... amongst other issues. There we might find the answers with grown up and honest conversation.

There is certainly a lot that was better in the 1950s when we consider the things that really matter. Some things that are better now. "Happy" medium?

If only Betty would take her own advice:

So you're a bed wetter,
Still waiting for the alarmist bed wetters

You seem to have the memory span of a gold fish.

The environment, amongst other topics, are really vehicles they use to disguise their sense of personal inadequacy, self loathing and spitefulness. In some cases, of course, we are just dealing with people who are mentally ill or who have sub-average IQs.
