What Have Fourteen Years of Conservative Rule Done to Britain?

I can't read what you've posted, Nut, because your quoted text doesn't show. Though it is touching that you continually seek my attention and approval I will, alas, be leaving you on my ignore list for the time being. Have a nice weekend.

Can you not discuss a serious subject

I don't believe in any surveys about happiness

Have you ever actually looked at what the "happiness survey" uses as its metrics?

Or considered that the authors and researchers actually put a bit more thought into it, than "what side of the bed did you get out of this morning?"................

I have and it is utter piffle.

Happiness isn't even a normal mental state. Anybody who is walking around "happy" most of the time isn't normal. What most people mean by happiness is contentment.

Then the other considerations like... one country has half of its population on happy pills, drugs and alcohol - are you going to compare this to another country where it is not so?

And those thar are in more northern areas rather than near the equator.

It is garbage. Doesn't tell us anything useful.

Much more useful to consider: crime rates (safety), wealth per capita, longevity, rates of vice, levels of trust.

bled us for everything we had... and our fathers... and our father's fathers.

You do post some ******.

Quibbling about whether it's "happiness" or "contentment"; that's semantics at best, scraping the barrel - to support your position, at worst.

"Happiness" was measured on a "ladder" or scale: 0 at the bottom, 10 at the top.

Metrics actually used in the Report:

GDP

It is garbage. Doesn't tell us anything useful.

Healthy Life Expectancy

It is garbage. Doesn't tell us anything useful.

Presence of Support Network

It is garbage. Doesn't tell us anything useful.

Generosity ("do you give to charity?")

Corruption perception

If you have ever read it, you clearly didn't understand any of it.

It is meaningless dross.

Mainly used by some with political motives to say: "look! The Scandinavians are happiest, so we should have a society like theirs with extremely high taxes and an overbearing welfare state".

If they ever were happiest it was likely for living in uncrowded, homogenous societies with shared values and high trust. Not that these garbage surveys give you these answers, people just pick out the bits they like.

As Sweden has decided, like other western countries, to destroy itself and is now - after a very short space of time - the rape and grenade capital of the northern hemisphere, then I would expect it to have plummeted down the rankings. It hasn't though. Which proves there's something fishy about these surveys.

You'll miss them when Labour are in power.

Here's Starmer defining working class

Reference on here to increasing the population, seems a bit odd telling people how many kids they should have. Smacks of the latest alt right propaganda.

Have you ever lived in a society with a declining population AND an increasing proportion of old people? It's bad news on numerous levels.

Declining innovation, less risk taking, more fearfulness, less productivity, declining wealth... and more besides. We are already suffering with these stifling trends. At some points in history it will mean being vulnerable to invasion by foreign oppressors.

Either the natives have more children or you get the above. The third way is to plug the gap with massive numbers of culturally unsuitable, low skill, low IQ, low wage foreigners who will, naturally, result in the balkanisation of society and all other sorts of problems.

*not criticising immigrants per se by the way. Some are wealthy, some are skilled, some will make a positive contribution in net terms. And even the low skill and low wage ones will often be decent enough people who mean no harm. However, people gravitate towards those who are like them and separate communities and ultimately, nations, are created. The end product is division and conflict. And that's before we even consider the substantial numbers who are aggressive negatives since our useless elites don't know how to be selective.

So... which one do you want? The Peter Pan option or growing a pair and taking responsibility?

That ain't alt right propaganda, it is age old wisdom. It's all in the history books.

A significant percentage of those 750,000 that came last year were foreign students going to university.

Low IQ huh :ROFLMAO:

Rather well when middle class gets a mention. Even better if the upper class gets a mention.
We all know what the terms mean - even you. Says a lot about your reason for posting it.

Quick edit, It's not all that unusual for working class people to see themselves as middle. The term lower working class is needed.

Didn’t take me long to realise Labour had lost control the economy in 2005
Funny, but the actual statistics don't agree with your feeling.

Statistically, the Conservatives have presided over a far slower growth in earnings than Labour, on average. Median gross annual earnings grew by an average of £638 in the six Labour years from 2005-2010 (inclusive). Then, under the Conservatives, they grew by an average of just £389 per year between 2011-2016.

But the worst year since the nineties was in 2010, when median gross earnings rose by just 0.3 per cent. This was a crossover year, when the the government switched from Labour to Conservative.

Things were going pretty well until the global recession.
