What caused climate change for the 4 odd billion years before we burnt fossil fuel?

Firstly it was slower. We're changing things faster than anything except a meteor strike or a supervolcano.

And before us the climate was altered by major vegetation changes, the evolution of life itself, massive chemical changes as the planet aged, meteors, supervolcanoes and other fun things.

We're doing in 100 years what took millions without human assistance.
