It takes them at least 2 hours to reach UK waters, it takes the interceptor around 10-15 minutes

You understand we have to take one extra for every one we send back?
So we get our nearly 1,000 a week at the moment , with 50 sent back to France, who send another 50 over, as well as the next batch of 1,000

That's a couple of times you've mentioned 'making people happy.'
There are numerous socioeconomic things that contribute to us not being happy. Our individual extent of unhappiness will be linked to however many things p1ss us off.
So no, stopping the boats won't make us all 100% 'happy', however it would contribute to making many people feel a bit happier and would mitigate some of the socioeconomic tension.
I'll tell you what won't make us any happier, the continuing influx of unknowns on these dinghies. Apart from those who live by the 'more the merrier' mantra, they'll be on cloud nine.
