I think almost all of us can agree that crimes against humanity such as racism, apartheid and genocide are wrong.

It takes a special kind of wicked to pretend that they should not be criticised.

Whataboutery, for example.

I had an elderly aunt who, in her will, left money to various charitable causes, including Lepra, which is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of leprosy.

A retired motor mechanic down the road complained bitterly because she hadn't left money to fight every other disease in the world, and produced a list if them.

Was he right?

Would my aunt have done better to ignore leprosy, as it seems he wanted?

AFAIK the retired motor mechanic had never given a moments thought to all the other diseases, and had no sincere belief in improving world health in any way,

I heard he failed his driving test because he left his foot on the clutch?

I had an elderly aunt who left money in her will to a leprosy charity. Soon after that, everyone in our street changed their wills to leave money to the same charity. By the end of the next month almost every will in our entire town had been altered to benefit this specific leprosy charity to the exclusion of all others. A retired motor mechanic down the road complained that nobody had left any money to any other charities, and produced a list of them. We just said, "Whataboutism", and, despite knowing that he was right, pretended that he was a bit simple.

FTFY

An elderly bigmouth with no life to speak of on a plumbers forum was always going on about the bloody Jews in a slippery, roundabout way. He claimed he always spoke out loudly against racism, apartheid and genocide. When given a list of over a dozen or more alleged genocides currently happening around the world and asked for evidence of his posts denouncing those regimes, he just posted up some fictitious story about an alleged lady down his street and a retired motor mechanic. Swervy McSwerveface, many people called him.

I have a feeling that Si's aunt is a fiction.

Mine is not.

It's interesting to see the games played by the people who support racism, apartheid and genocide.

Whataboutery seems popular today.

It is, of course, neither a justification nor an excuse for crimes against humanity performed by their buddies.

You’d be wise to tone down your hatred. You frequently step over the line between hate speech and free speech.

I know you won’t listen to me. But you would not enjoy the process of being prosecuted.

Some thoughts should stay in your head / home where you are free to spout whatever racism you want.

Are we talking about him comparing the actions of the State of Israel to the Nazis.

Has anyone ever been prosecuted for that.
