You are talking about the remote areas of Russia out in the small vilages, they are not the same as life in Moscow or St Petersburg. The high standards are more in big cities than the outer regions.

Eastern Europe gets a bad press sometimes, but in my experience cities like Belgrade, Skopje, Pristina, Chisinau, Yerevan, Bucharest, Tirana and Kyiv (before the invasion) are far more safer and civilised than anything in the UK.

I would love to visit Eastern Europe more, I’ve only been to Prague which was beautiful
