Lucy Letby case - Evidence discussion thread

As with similar possible miscarriages of justice it will take an overwhelming amount of evidence to reverse the decision, since the state has an incredible amount to lose!

The "Denning Doctrine" - we can't let people appeal against convictions in case they are innocent. "It is better that some innocent men remain in jail than that the integrity of the English judicial system be impugned."

Seems very much the case

In the past there was the case of the Birmingham 6 and the Guildford 4 that went on for what ?? 16 years before they were found innocent and released ??

Evidence was with held by the state that they were innocent for years ??? And afaik ??? No one was held to account or punished for the mis carriage of justice

Total disgrace

So she could now sit in prison for the rest of her life and could well be innocent?
I met a lady at a conference who works for a charity dealing with miscarriages. Opened my eyes. She wasn’t some woolly do gooder either. Tough as they come because so many crims try it on.

Lettby didn’t exercise the right to silence at interview or in the dock, she cooperated and answered all their questions. Almost unheard of nowadays, innocent or guilty. Like a lamb to the slaughter.

Or they are warming up to the idea they are unsafe.
The CPS have, but Plod just carried on regardless and passed the buck up the line. If the basis of the new charges was statistical correlation and shift patterns, but no direct evidence (as before) it’s hardly surprising they aren’t pursuing the prospective charges.

Was there anything gained from the interviews that worked against her? It hasn't been focused much in any of the documentaries.

Only as part of the confirmation bias of the whole case. Going to a funeral and sending a condolence card were all part of the evil plan. Other nurses that attended funerals weren’t charged with murder

but this was not learned via interview?

In other words what would she have gained with "no comment". Most people would see "no comment" as harming your defence.
