As the PM is/was a lawyer it seems reasonable to conclude that he knew this was unlawful from the start
But it wasn't unlawful in 2019 or 2022?
What's different this time?

Not my fault you can't understand what I actually posted...So Reform used the ECHR to overturn the decision? or is this all made up in your head?
Nonsense. Fifty per cent of cases fail.As the PM is/was a lawyer it seems reasonable to conclude that he knew this was unlawful from the start, he just didn't think anyone would challenge him.
We’ll see, touting local elections as a referendum on the state of the country doesn’t fill potholesAll good for reform.
The one that won a huge majority. I’m no fan of Kieth but he is showing signs that he is a fighter.Do the labour party have no limit to just how terrible a leader they will endure?
Of course they chose to delay the elections for a proper reason, as have previous governments when reorganising councils. Your conspiracy theory that reorganisation took place to weaken the re form vote is delusional.Cue the muppets saying waa waa the government didn't choose to delay elections
The biggest and quickest in local government historyit was all due to reorganisation bla bla bla.

How is it bad news to order an investigation?![]()
PM orders probe into allegations Labour-aligned think tank investigated a journalist
The prime minister has backed an investigation into a Labour-linked thinktank alleged to have paid for information on journalists. The Cabinet Office has confirmed it is looking into what happened at Labour Together.news.sky.com
more bad news for Labour

By reversing the cancellation of the elections he’s stepped into the ring with Re form rather than let the story drag on for yearsNot sure I agree with that.
I’m not a fan of unitary authorities, they take decision making further away from local people, but don’t necessarily save money because the big services end up being shared. A quick google of Surrey suggests one of the new unitaries will be bankrupt from day one.We were denied our local elections last year and this year they are going ahead BUT our local councillor says the Surrey changes are causing issues and will do for years. So delaying local elections delivers nothing.
Hence the much wider scale of elections being cancelled. It’s happened many times before but hasn’t been on the radar for the unaffected two tier authorities.
Better than being punched drunk I supposeHe's certainly showing signs of being punch drunk.

I'd delay it till Christmas time.Turkeys, next Item on the agenda.. Christmas, now or delay?

This would almost immediately stop defections. But at the end of the day we vote for the person. When it comes to the PM. They should get no more than 12 - 18 month before having to do the same.More importantly I do think that if an MP wants to change the party it represents then a bi-election must be held so their constituents have their say
There is nothing wrong with taking the enemy's weapon and using it against them!

I'm not. This government is illegitimate.Leaves you open to charges of hypocrisy.
If you're not bothered by that though...........
