It certainly raised my eyebrows.

I share the same thoughts as me old Ma and the missus is the same - what happens to our bodies after death - no fuggs given. They could throw my corpse on some rocks and let the birds have a feast for all I care.

I can see why folk are angry though, I take nothing away from other folks's grief and the way they have been emotionally and financially shafted.

I expected. him to have got life, I am in the same camp as the families with this one, he stole from charities, he stole from the people he served by swindling them out of their life savings selling them insurance policies that was never going to be honoured, he left some bodies for years out of fridges to decompose in body bags on the floor after their families paid for a funeral that never ocurred. He was a mate of mine that I will never ever visit in prison or speak to again, his wife was up to her neck in all of this along with his daughter, the whole lot of them turned out to be con artists. He deserved a longer sentnce.

Sentencing guidelines have gotten harsher.

I've been waiting for the sentencing remarks - based on your comment, there is clearly parts to this I wasn't aware of.

I cannot imagine how you could cope with the smell, surely the neighbours would get a whiff

I can telll you now that he didn't have any cash flow problems as he makes out. He transferred a million pounds into his personal bank account, he transferred £60,0000 into his daughters account and his wife received £180k. They dropped charges against his wife who was a school headmistress and his daughter who was a director of Legacy. They had 4 funeral parlours spread across the city and was a big concern. The reason he says he had money problems was to try to make out an alibi. He was living a very luxurious and lavish lifestyle.

they'll be bankrupted then with the civil claims for damages and proceeds of crime. looks like the council have some blame too. (point 9)

I think they have taken his house too and placed a police camera outside of it in case they try going back in. Hull City Council have paid out a lot of compensation to the families on his behalf. I assume they will take his cars too which were quite extravagent

They can impound, not take. There will be a process. Remember tax payers money robbing Mone and her thieving husband...

Agreed, I have always thought that they should share some respnsibility. They charge the funeral directors £500 per cremation and was refusing to do any more for him as he had run up a 50k debt with them. The surprising thing to me was where did he think this would all end. He kept storing bodies then when his fridges were full he left them to decompose naturally which suggests to me that he was planning on grinding up the skeletons that would have been left.
