Why try and belittle people

Personally, I don't mind the rudeness. However, there are rules here and Rule 2a seems to cover it.

I haven't worked on a building site since before you were born (probably)

I wouldn't bet on that, John. Joe 90 was a 1960s tv series. It featured a 9-year old 'boy' with an electronic device in his head that could mimic others' brain patterns ;)

is it just me or does joe90 seem to be a prick all the time and thinks he knows all, all the time. are you a woman joe 90?

The simulated patterns appear to be very distorted..... the device seems to be failing.... DIY brain surgery to replace it seems necessary

And neither should the OP look a gift horse in the mouth. Plumbers are usually gruff and grumpy. Walk into any plumber's merchants and see for yourself. You are just too soft, John.

Then I must be going into the wrong, or perhaps the right, plumbers merchants. Went into one 2 weeks ago asking for stainless steel toilet lid hinges. The really friendly guy said that they had stopped selling them but to try another named plumbers merchant 200 yards down the road. In this second one there was a group of guys, plumbers I suppose, having a very amiable discussion. The salesman had what I thought was the part and was really helpful. When I got home I discovered that I had purchased the wrong part and went back again to purchase the right one. He asked where the first one was and I replied that it was in the car but that the packaging had been opened. "Bring it in " he said and we'll exchange it. They did. I couldn't have had better service if I had gone to Harrods, so don't tar all plumbers with the same brush joe.

On this forum, when I have been slow to understand, I have very rarely been abused because of my obtuseness.

I do know it all. Why should I pretend that I don't?

Oh and I bet the poster complaining about rudeness wasn't called a p***k.

I guess you are in the wrong thread?

im agreeing with the original poster, and as your the main culprit maybe you should ask your mum (you are obviously single) where she went wrong with you and sort it out.

Plumbers. Sparkies, Brickies etc., all like to be referred to as Professionals. If they want to be seen as 'Professionals, the first step is to act in a 'professional' manner.
In my experience, Professional behavior is void of both verbal and physical abuse. When some of the so called professionals on this site realise what professional behavior is, then we will all have greater respect for them.
Remember respect is earned, it is not a right just because you have some knowledge that some of us 'Numpties' don't have.
Doctors usually know more about medical matters than the rest of us, but they don't (as a rule) take this advantage as a reason to verbally abuse their patients, similarly the legal and Engineering professions.

Ive met a few people like joe90 describes on sites...they are usualy agency misfits, or old ****heads but the people ive learnt from are all polite, if not friendly. People you work for aren't over familiar but noones ever been rude to my face and laughed for very long.
When I was pipefitting at the new J Radcliffe in Oxford, I fell out with a plumber who had that rougharse manner - told him to **** off - problem solved ;)
It should be made clear that on sites, you will here sometimes colourful language, I accept that as long as its not directed at anyone with real malice. Anyway, with all the roll ups everyone smokes at tea and dinner breaks, its quite mellow realy ;)

I do know it all. Why should I pretend that I don't?

I find this to be an astonishing claim, joe. Two of my friends, although hardly in the eminent category, are nevertheless, professors. Neither they, nor any other of my learned friends and acquaintances in university, in colleges or in schools would ever claim that they know it all.
When did you first become aware that you were truly an absolute genius and why are you wasting your time on this forum talking to lesser mortals such as we? With the brains and knowledge that you seem to have, the world should be your stage - not DIYnot.com.

I expect he was trying to wind you up.

Everyone needs a hobby.

Now we have somewhere to put the unpleasant people
Well done Admin this is a fantastic addition to the site ... I don't see any Joe-90 posts ... Wonderful!
