Any ex smokers? UPDATE

Apologies to Dave and WD if my previous frivolous post caused any offence.

My father smoked all his life and passed away from lung cancer in 2000.
I was with him at the end, and if I ever needed any encouragement not to start smoking again, that was it…:(

Here's a good way to stop smoking:

Get yourself sent to prison for 6 month. You get £10 a week (of your own money) to spend on "groceries/snacks" from the prison shop. This includes cigs. You cant have cigs brought in. So you buy a pack, and some sweets. The pack lasts you a day. You are then forced to go 6 days cold turkey. So you quit because theres no point starting again after 6 days is there? Its an ideal envt to stop smoking because you're locked in a cell 12 hours a day and everyone shouts at each other anyway! :D

(I know someone in prison and they have stopped smoking, cold turkey, as above. Smoked 10 a day since they were 11 years old - ok not a major habit but an achievement! Just think when they return home they'll start again 'cos everyone smokes there. :( )

The second weeks "wages" would all be spent on sudocream so you wouldnt have any left to smoke anyway

Hi RF

Still going strong but had the cold turkey last night and a poor nights sleep. :(

My body is missing the nicotine but its not having any with smoke attached!

Thanks for asking and join me.

3 months to prepare for this! :D

Managed to give up smoking over 27 years ago the first 25 yrs were the worst.

Stargazer,
No offence taken.
I just hope that mine and WD's posts can persuade one person not to go through what we have.

To anyone thinking about giving up 'someday',
At midnight tonight, 'Someday' begins.
It might be difficult for a week or two but don't you think it's worth it for, possibly another twenty years of living. I do!

£200 a month I've saved
thinking of Gordon biting his tongue as he wonders where all his fag tax has gone helps.

On day 11 and still going strong.

I loved to smoke and was on around 25 fags a day and sometimes more but I can't ignore the damage it is doing to my body for any longer!

Had cold turkey symptons on day 3 and felt rough for about a week but feeling better now.

Seem to have more energy and very alert in the mornings.

Anyone that would like to quit should refrain from smoking for 2 weeks and see if they can manage to do it. :D
