These things like the Olympics, should be paid for by the UK Ltd.
The country as a whole benefiets from this type of structure/event

What use is a skylon?

Despite the millenium dome being useless to people up north at least it was used after the event.

This skylon will be useless even during the event.

I certainly dont want to pay a penny towards it.

It looks rather like a V2 rocket to me, were they taking the **** when they built this thing?

But then they're just as likely to come, even if Skylon is not there. Or, to put it another way, they're not not likely to visit, because it isn't there.

Thus £x millions spent, net increase in tourism and inflowing money - zilch.

There are plenty of basic things in this country that need sorting and plenty of calls on the money that would otherwise be spent, before erecting yet another edifice to pander to someone's ego, surely?

No: they visit to see people with webbed feet, cleft palets and tongues just that little too large for their mouths, who call their brother "Daddy" :)

Dumfries and Galloway Council has earmarked £50,000 for the first phase of the scheme.

The remaining funds will come from Scottish Enterprise and the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority
