i find it difficult to imagine, the degree of narcissistic self importance or the sheer lack of self esteem, to make a person want to big themselves up on something as mundane or banal as a diy internet forum.

Undoubtedly some people out there who have dual personalities. I even signed up under another name once, just so I could be blatantly rude to Slogger - Now I wonder who his alter ego was ??
Don't think BAS and Softus are the same person though, FWIW.
As for Esra Ptrap and Megawatt, who knows ? It seems perfectly feasible that Megawatt's 'brother-in-law' starts to contribute a lot more straight after Megawatt announces he is taking a break from his charity work to go on a cruise, just in the middle of Joe owning him in a guitar contest, I guess.....
The real bonkers ones are the ones that join with two conflicting personalities and then spend their evenings arguing with themselves. Maybe not so much here, but you do see it in other places - they always trip themselves up eventually.

megawatt was someone elses alter ego. he appeared as a new poster, but commented on some goings on, that he wouldnt have been involed in prior to his arrival. Cant remember what they were now, but when challanged he would never answer.
its a bit sad really if youve got something to say, then say it. Dont use an alter ego to back up/prove a point/ or create an argument.

Not true, I've been a member of the site (and posted off and on) for years though never been as obsessed as MW.
Not sure what you're referring to Thermo but MW only ever posted under the one username to my knowledge.

This based on a long time suspicion and what I would say was proof. A few weeks ago, probably for a couple of hours, they both started to use emboldened text to emphasise certain words. The posts seen side by side were obviously the same person.
Whatever, there both a good larf.

There is obviously mods who post under user names but when challenged deny it.What does the rules say about excessive quoting just read some of their post and you'll know who they are.Don't know if they are schizo though.
