Grins, I'll try not too.... but perhaps the papers wanted a break from all the bleakness and enjoyed reporting on what the Brits love best - talking about the weather? :)

Half an inch of snow and the 4*4 wheel drivers engage full on drive and park any where like a t,,at mode

It always surprises how many men wear shorts over the winter.....

I feel a wimp when Ive got a fleece and jacket on and some guy walks by wearing a pair of shorts

I was amazing to find, when I went looking for an image like that, how many young ladies venture out into the snow in short skirts and forget to wear anything underneath them.

I used to have clients in Blackpool and Washington, so I used to make sure I was prepared for snowy journeys ending in being stranded overnight - had a winter emergency kit in the car, just in case.

Never did need it.

Then you would know full well, snow is very very rare in Blackpool, can't say the same for Washington.

I did.

I hadn't seen EddieM's post.

Snow may be very rare in Blackpool, but not in Washington, not on the journey from London to either, and absolutely not on the journey between the two.

True I suppose your biggest worry driving to Blackpool, apart from the absolute monotony of the M55, is hoping your car isn't going to melt into a pile of rust before you get there. That sea air is a real menace.
