Thanks, yes heard of it - looks very nice. Haven't spent too much time in Dordogne - can be quite English in some parts. Though I do like Bergerac, nice old town and some great pubs and restaurant. Even a good Indian, which is rare in these parts.
No, did consider, but found the winters brutal. Place I was staying couple of years ago was near Ostrava where it was almost minus 20 this winter. Also the food can be a bit death defying - everything is laden with fat and salt and not great quality. Even in places like Tesco, the quality is nowhere near a UK tesco. What makes a great destination for a long boozy weekend or even a week or two doesn't necessarily make it a good place to live.
Looking at France now, very civilised and amazing house prices, great food, space, quality of life, countryside. And wine. Don't know why I didn't think of it earlier.

Yes, Tesco still out there. No EU passport, but still got my Czech residency card from 2019, pre Brexit. Would have to go for French residency eventually, but I can survive on the CZ card for now. Still have old parents so bouncing back between France and UK for a while yet.
Having a Monday moan-up!
Moan number 1.
Phoned up Phillips customer service first thing this morning about our iron that went pop on Saturday. 20 months old but still under warranty. They asked me to send them proof of purchase and photo of model/serial number and would get straight back to me. They haven’t so I’m on hold again at the moment.
Moan number 2.
I booked an ear micro-suction appointment for 4.30 last Friday. Turned up 5 mins early and they were just putting the shutters down. I told them I had an appointment, they asked for email confirmation, I didn’t have it so they said I couldn’t have made the booking and to book again. They phoned head office and confirmed this. Fair enough, I thought, my fault, but…..I've just received a text asking for feedback on the appointment and how things went on Friday - why would they be asking that for an appointment that was allegedly not made? I’m annoyed now - looks like it was their booking system and not me. I’ve registered my dissatisfaction with their head office.
Still on the phone to Phillips - I think I’m talking to some Chinese AI robot. Going round in circles at the moment.

Not necessarily; their automated "request for feedback" message might have been triggered at some point prior to the booking being finalised.

Been on the phone to a couple of companies. Co-Op insurance 8 mime's wait, 12 minutes of discussion when told one of my complaints (their 'On-Line' portal doesn't work well for long term customers) but after renewing the policy had a call back with information and re-assurance. That's pretty good.
Second call - 40 mins of waiting for a life and investment company to answer the phone... Agent gave me some information - at least the fund they hold for me isn't a 'Pension' which is what the on-line system points me at but is NOT an ISA. The Financial Advisor who convinced me to set this up was desperate for me to have a 'Pension' via him, something I didn't need so managed to escape that one but the sneaky, useless chap transferred the money from my Cash ISA to a non-ISA bond - Barsteward. Now have to work out how much tax I have to pay to get the money out!

Putting in their own, extra, separate feeds, for both the fridge, and the fridge/freezer. Plus a separate new 20amp main feed, to pick up the garage consumer unit. All were originally on, or spurred from, the downstairs ring.
A result on this - no replacement available so been offered a full refund of the original price. New iron, same value but a different make ordered through John Lewis. A bit of aggro but not a bad result considering we’ve had it for 20 months.
First day back in the pool this morning - trying to build up a bit of strength in my shoulder that I damaged a few months ago. Still clicks and crunches and sometimes feels like a joint has popped out of place and then popped back in so I just did breast stroke and took it slow. Still managed to cause a minor upset in the pool though. They are double lanes and the boards at either end clearly show what direction to swim in - up one side, down the other. It’s not hard. It’s not a problem when there is up to three people in the lane (max is 12) as they can all still swim up and down in a straight line without bumping into each other. I was the 4th though but still they insisted on keeping in their straight lines so I made them go round me and got the odd dirty look and tutt as if I was in the wrong. Eventually the lifeguard clocked what was happening, came over and pointed the board out to those three and told them to follows the rules. Small win for me.
Went for my usual dog walk with our friend and as well as her two cockers, she brought another friends three cockers along. One of them is 15 years old, totally deaf and partially blind. Halfway through the walk, it got a bit of a wiggle on and decided to turn round and make its own way back to the car park. The pair of us got out of breath after 5 minutes and couldn’t catch up with it. Of course, being deaf it couldn’t hear us calling it either. Eventually it got to the car park and started looking for us. When it turned round it saw us with our arms out (in the shape of a 'T' - the sign to return) and it came running back to us. By then we were both totally cream crackered. I had a strange thought that if I had to run from that Tsunami, I wouldn’t have made it.
Shoulder pain is the last thing you want to have.

When I was recovering from a hip replacement, so on heavy painkillers, I had a horrific pain in my shoulder, I had Mrs CB primed to take me to A&E then it disappeared as quickly as it came, never happened again
