    Replacement Cable for Electric Shower

I'm just planning various electrical jobs around the house and I'm contemplating installing a replacement shower cable to my downstairs bathroom while I have all the floors etc up. My current shower is only 8.5kW but if I'm replacing the cable I'd like to be able to accommodate 9.5kW or 10.5kW...

    Which Torque Screwdrivers

I'm looking to buy a torque screwdriver set - mainly for CU work though though while I'm buying something I'd like a universal set that caters for most needs. This set from Draper Expert looks one of the most flexible and can be picked up for around £80. It doesn't come with PZ/SL / Pozidrive...

    Downpipe branch horizontally (?)

Yes, that's certainly what I was thinking. I'd assumed the offset in conjunction with the branch would give you a horizontal, but if not it sounds like the way you've done it is probably the only practical option.

    Downpipe branch horizontally (?)

I think what datarebal is suggesting is cut the horizontal pipe somewhere next to the fence, put the offset on the end, and run a pipe between that and the branch? I agree that would look a lot better. However, it looks to me like you might be able to simply run the horizontal pipe at an angle...

    Domestic Air Conditioning

I'm looking to have air conditioning installed at home. I'm looking to cover two rooms initially, possibly a third depending on cost, and I'd like just one outdoor unit if possible for neatness. Firstly, is anyone able to recommend an installer that covers the South Yorkshire area or tell me...

    Replacement Hopper for Rainwater Gully

I have a Hepworth rainwater gully which looks very much like this, from above at least. https://www.wavin.com/en-gb/Catalogue/Foul-Water/Gravity-Sewer/100-300mm-Drain-Pipes-Hepworth-Clay/Hepworth-Clay-Paved-Area-Gully-100 The top of the hopper currently protrudes from the ground by 3-4 inches...

    Hotpoint FTCD871 Tumble Dryer

Yeah, the message appears to be there all of the time, despite having cleaned the filters and emptied the tank several times. The dryer seems to be working fine which is why I've not done anything about it for so long, but I figured there must be something wrong either with the dryer or what I'm...

    Hotpoint FTCD871 Tumble Dryer

I have a Hotpoint FTCD871 heat pump tumble dryer which I inherited with the house. It's not very old and hasn't had much use. It's located next to a washing machine so would make sense to have been plumbed into the water outlet, however the water bottle fills up so I'm assuming it isn't. Ever...

    Plastering Trowel for DIYer

Having ruined my plastering trowel thinking it was a suitable tool for levering up a floorboard, I'm looking to buy a new one. It will only be used for DIY repairs so I don't need anything fancy, though I'm really not a fan of cheap, poor quality tools. I've noticed when looking around that...

    Repairing Scratched Veneer

Thanks for the advice. Filling with the coloured waxes sounds a better way to go. Having examined the pictures more closely one of the scratches looks pretty deep and might actually have penetrated the veneer and this definitely feels like it will have more chance of hiding it as much as...

    Repairing Scratched Veneer

I'm looking at a second hand subwoofer which is light oak veneer however has some scratches to the veneer. I've attached a couple of pictures from the seller. With it being real veneer, I'm assuming something could be done to hide or at least make the scratches less prominent? What would I be...

    Downpipe Round Corner

Yeah, I realise that :( it might be neater just to convert it to round immediately below the outlet and run the rest in round. It won't match the rest of the house but I can probably do a much neater job of all the joints.

    Downpipe Round Corner

Would 3 x 92° bends to get me round the corner from the outlet and into the top of a vertical run, severely impact the flow, or would it be fine?

    Downpipe Round Corner

I need to route a downpipe round a corner, as the downpipe is on one side of the property and the rainwater gully is round the corner for some reason. I've attached a diagram to demonstrate, with the gutter outlet in blue and the gully in green. The rest of the house is done in squareline...

Do you know where I could get this rubber seal from?

If you don't have any joy, I used a firm called Extrudaseal when I was looking for some seals for my last house. They offered a service where if you can't find what you're after on their website, you can send them a photo or, in my case as it was a really unconventional seal and was half...

Cable Entry Above or Below DPC

I'm running an aerial and satellite cable down the outside of the house, and need to bring it through the external wall into the void under the ground floor. The house appears to be built on a concrete raft and under the floor I have 6 inch high air bricks sat on top of the raft, then the DPC...

    Gutter Guards

I'm suffering at the moment with birds picking through the contents of my gutters and essentially emptying them onto the floor. I was suffering on the back of the house so I cleaned out the gutters last weekend, however they've simply moved to the front now! I've had birds nesting in the gutters...

    Rough costing of patio

When I was looking at the price of driveways last year I concluded the going rate was about £80 per square metre, so for a driveway the size of your patio about £3.5k. I'd have thought the labour involved with laying a patio would be fairly similar, as would the waste removal, etc. I guess if...

    Ladders

I'm looking for a decent set of ladders. I own a standard two-storey house and don't anticipate moving anytime soon. I've measured to the underside of the gutter which is about 5.2m. Allowing to get to, say, 3ft above gutter height, and the additional length to account for them being at an...
