new decking on a flat roof

How would you rate this computer

We have Dells at work, and they have been very good - very few problems, and excellent support. Sounds OK to me,and would guess £600-£700 ?

    lengthening fence posts

Have you considered something like dowels and glue ? With 3x4 posts, the "dowels" could be pretty big,and remeber to check the glue is waterproof (suitable for exterior use) Skew nailing/screwing,or plates and screws (as you suggested) would both work - it's all a matter of how you want it to...

    Brake failure

A good example of (lack of) preventative maintenance - when I am going to do any work on the car,I spray WD40 on everything I plan to remove,a couple of days beforehand to give it time to soak in. If I am ever near any bleed nipples/brake pipe unions I always give them a squirt as well "just in...

    Fiesta drive shaft

Yes,it's easy - hardest bit is removing the hub assembly from the outer end;after that, the driveshaft will just "pop" out. Boots easy to replace if you are taking the driveshafts off, otherwise you can get boots that are pre-split that are glued together when fitted (if changing them with...

    Euthanasia.......any thoughts?

I agree with the concept of "quality of life" Personally,if I can no longer do things for myself, and become a burden on others,I would rather have someone pull the plug.

    Power to outside shed

I would go for swa into adaptable box, then T&E to the CU's. And connect it to the non-rcd side, and have the rcd in the shed CU. Reasons:- T&E easier to connect to CU Discrimination - only one RCD needed

Cost of replacing a fuel supply hose

Also depends on if the pipe can have the damaged section replaced,or if the whole lot needs doing. e.g. if it is safe to just repair it,then it could be 50p for pipe,£1.00 for for a couple of jubilee clips, and half-hour labour or,as Quickfit said, could be £100 if the lot needs replacing.

    carburettors excuse my ignorance

Weber is the make of carburettor,Ford pinto is the type of engine. Not sure, but think it is the 32/36 DGAV on the pinto (Ford overhead cam engine) Although probably too late for the auction, the difference between carburettors for different engine sizes will be either:- 1)The size of the...

    Qualification versus job

I studied agriculture, and work in road transport. (Not very related,but..worked on a farm, farm bought a wagon, drove wagon delivering/collecting from farms;boss bought another wagon, put it to work for a friend who owned a chemical transport company,I ended up driving that, worked my way into the...

    Ford Focus Steering

The noise sounds like what you found - power steering reservoir needs topping up. Check the manufacturers instructions,as some cars are supposed to have the fluid checked with the wheels at full lock, and others with them straight ahead. And as for the colour, power steering fluid is the same as...

    problem with erratic indicators

Should be able to get from autoparts dealer as well as Ford. Relays are normally small enough to fit in your hand, and a simple three-pin push-fit.

How do i remove the old silicone before i reseal the bath?

Sure I've seen a product called "silicon eater" for just this type of application. When resealing the bath, ensure it is dry before you start, and half-fill the bath with water - leave until silicon has set (and remember to use one with anti-fungal properties)

chkdsk is a command that works via the DOS system - think you can do it in XP by going Start > run > cmd ,which should then bring up a DOS window

    Wiring for 8.7 kw shower?

MCB protects a single circuit,so won't put the power off to the whole house. RCD will protect multiple circuits,so if earth leakage occurs and trips the RCD,all circuits covered by it will go off. Depends what type of fault there is as to what result you get.
