    Make of kitchen tap.

Is it possible to name the make of a kitchen tap shown in the attached image? I need to replace the spout o rings which appear to be 2cm outside diameter but the make of tap would help with confirming o ring size. Thanks

    Kitchen Tap Ceramic Cartridge Code.

Hello. Is there any sort of standard coding for ceramic cartridges? I have the measurements for a 20-spine, 3/4 cartridge but there appear to be various choices with slightly different sizes. I do not know the name of the mixer taps the cartridge belongs to. I have attached an image of the...

    Replacing a ceramic cartridge.

Could someone advise if the ceramic cartridge in the image of a tap attached just pulls out of the housing, or is the housing removed in some way? Both appear to be immovable at the moment. Thanks.

    Clothes dryer collapsing.

Hello. Attached are images of a clothes dryer that is meant to lock under its own weight using the slot mechanism shown in the images. A family member leant on the dryer heavily and it collapsed. On inspection, nothing appeared to be broken or bent but although the mauve plastic levers engage in...

    Russell Hobbs self cleaning issue

I was wondering if anyone had experienced a problem with the self-cleaning operation of a Russell Hobbs iron. When pressing the self-cleaning button, the full tank of water in the iron is meant to leave the iron through holes in the iron plate, along with steam. Very little water is leaving my...

Connecting isolating valve to copper pipe.

Hello. I've attached an image of an existing isolation valve setup to a cistern. I want to cut off the valve and replace it with a flexible pipe/valve but I've noticed that the copper pipe is slightly deformed and I'm concerned that a new flexible pipe might not sit properly on its olive. Is it...

    Fridge/Freezer housing to door hinge

Hello. I am replacing an integrated Fridge/Freezer. The cabinet width is the correct standard width to accommodate a new unit but I am concerned that the new FF, which is approximately 5mm larger in width than the current FF, will foul the hinges connecting wooden doors to the FF cabinet (see...

    Central Heating pipework

I have attached an image of external pipework at the front of my house. I noticed a couple of days ago that water was dripping from one of the pipes whilst the boiler was heating hot water. Should I be concerned? Thanks.

    Boiler temperature.

I have a Worcester Bosch 24Kw gas boiler. The knob/dial indicating boiler temperature max/min just has a black line on it, not figures in degrees C. There is an optimum temp recommended for efficient boiler output so just a line is of little use. Is there a way around this issue, other than...

    Cistern Coupling Washer

I have attached a photo of a cistern coupling washer which I'm replacing with a new one shown in position 60mm I/D. Will the new washer work? It is supposed to, but there is an obvious difference in the O/D size. I positioned the cistern on the new plate and rubber washer but the cistern sits...

    Cistern syphon sizes.

Whilst sourcing a toilet cistern syphon I've noticed that every outflow pipe dia is 38mm whilst the hole on my cistern to take a new syphon is 50mm dia. There cold be a problem when tightening up the nut onto the rubber washer ie not enough material to tighten up onto. Have I got an unusual...

    DC Plug availability.

Does anybody know where I can purchase a DC 9V-12V radio plug similar to the attached but not a sealed unit? The plug is 5.5mm outside dia and appears to be 2.0mm inside dia. The plug is positive centered. The amount of similar plugs available is rather like a minefield! Thanks.

    Boiler setting.

I have attached images of two boiler dial settings I use on my 3 year old Worcester Bosch boiler. The setting showing a vertical line is what I am using at the moment. The dial set at 45 degrees has not been used for some time. The radiators feel quite hot but the house- a 4 bed semi detached-...

    Finish on old mirror.

Attached are images of an old mirror, possibly Victorian/Edwardian. The outer border of the mirror is covered in a black finish but there are areas of the finish that need retouching. I'm unsure what paint etc would match the old application. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Wiring of smart thermostat.

I am having a smart thermostat fitted to replace a wired thermostat and the set up requires a boiler adapter to be connected to the boiler so the CH only can be utilised remotely. Would it be possible to connect the boiler adapter to the 'wiring centre' in the airing cupboard so that the boiler...

    Honeywell motorised valve.

Is it possible to keep a Honeywell valve in the manual position to provide central heating? My Bosch boiler isn't firing for CH but does for HW and I suspect the valve, although it's only three months old! I am hoping to get an engineer out after the bank holiday but I still need heating. Thanks.
