Hi Folks, there is a pretty large gap in our garage door which lets a lot of cold air into garage.
Can this be improved in any way?

Hi, does anyone know how I could fix the wobbly threshold strip on my front door? Sometimes it's a bit loose and this stops the door closing properly, which isn't good! I've attached a picture. I think it's adjustable, and that the middle strip you can see should lift up so I can access screws...
Hi folks,
I'm looking for some advice before starting a project to convert our garage into a store/utility/games room.
FYI, the garage adjoins my lounge and my neighbours', is single story with a pitched roof, and was built 2 years ago. I'm pretty handy (D&T teacher :D) and am planning on...
I am working on a bodge automated door.
This is the equipment and tools I have...
A Raspberry Pi (to control the servo, receive commands etc.)
A 7V servo motor.
A hot glue gun.
Some velcro (hook & loop) tape (although it isn't the best).
Some wire ties and some stationary string.
Some wire and...
Hello DIY experts!
The upper catch on my front door appears to have fallen off sometime recently. I've attached two photographs, one of the bottom catch which is still in place and one showing the area of the missing catch at the top of the door. The door is multi-point, so there are also hooks...
Hi. When I depress my handle, the two hook bolts don't go in far enough, only by about 3mm, but enough to stop the door opening. You have to put all you body weight down on the handle to get that last 'click' to open the door. Its now getting to the point that my wife and kids cannot open the...
I have a tilt/slide balcony door. The one in which you turn the handle 90 degrees, and the top of the door tilts inwards to give ventilation. Turn the handle 180 degreed and the door pulls out and slides.
Earlier today the door was stiff sliding open so I pulled it a little too hard.
When I...
Hello all,
I have had a second hand composite door fitted along with a new side panel. Had to go second hand for now as run out of cash on a renovation project.
The door is catching the frame on the handle side, and also the bottom left corner if looking out toward the road. Its needs a good...
When the weather is breezy we get the sounds of wind howling at our front door due to gaps around the edge. The house is around 10 years old and was initially fitted with the type of draft excluder shown in these photos. It appears to be U shaped in terms of a cross section and as per the 2nd...
Hi all,
need some help as im on a budget due to just buying new house which needed total gutting and starting over.
I have had a quote for a composite door and side panel together from the same company which is £1000 fitted. I may even consider UPVC or a wooden door to save some cash.
The...
Hi
About 3 months ago the door lock on our washer was clicking constantly. I ordered a new branded door lock and fitted it fine. The plastic connector from the wiring harness to the lock showed some evidence of burning but it fitted OK, still, to the new lock and functioned fine.
This...
Hi Guys,
I noticed yesterday that there is a crack in my french door, it looks like it happened when the door has swung open and caught the window sill (see attached pictures).
Any idea how best to treat this or any idea on the repair costs, if indeed it can be repaired? Additionally it would...
Hi All,
Have found great advice on these forums without having to ask any questions before but now the time has come for me to finally be stumped and have to ask :)
I have a brick built outhouse which I am going to sort out to be used as a gym. It does have damp proof membrane in the floor but...
I'm fitting a new door in a timber stud wall. the wall is non load bearing as it infills a space which was previously widened and later closed back up again. there is an existing RSJ I beam above the stud wall carrying the load from above. my door will be around 150mm below the RSJ.
I want to...
I've got an internal stud wall, with a door in it...well, 2 doors actually - 2 old wooden panel doors facing each other, with a 4 inch gap between them.
I want to stick or fix something to the back of one or both of the doors to reduce transmission of speech.
I'd appreciate any thoughts on...
Hi all - I have 11 interior doors and I want to change all the handles.
My question is really about sizing - having shied away from all types of DIY I think I could do this one ;) but do I just simply order some from the Internet or do I have to be aware of sizing?
For example, the ones I have...
Moved into a property with fairly old upvc doors. The front door has a glass panel insert in the top half of the door, horizontally centered about 2/3 width of door.
I've noticed the glass can be moved from both sides and seems the seals and fascias have come away to some extent probably due to...
Hi. I wondered if anyone can give me some advice? The lock on the outside of my UPVC door has become very difficult to turn. It gets stuck in position and won't turn or will turn slightly to the right (when unlocked so wrong direction). Lock seems to click as if key isn't releasing it properly...
Have an internal built in Fridge from Siemens and now the hinge / bracket seems to have gone at the bottom and I can't shut the door?
It resists on closing and pings open about 3 inches with some resistance when it closes?
My wife said that a small curly piece of metal shot out the other day...
