Happy New Year all - hope next year works out better than the last!
Does anybody know what to do here?.
I’ve changed some of the light fittings in our house no problem but the last one I need to do has more wires than I know what to do with.
I've attached some images of the ceiling rose...
Hi,
I’m replacing the light switch at the top of the stairs - it’s a regular set up, the landing light can be switched from upstairs or down stairs.
I thought it would be simple but think I might have bought the wrong switch.
The switch has one wire coming down into it (red) and two wires...

As the title suggests, Ive tried to install two lights and a light switch in a closet Ive built in my bedroom. I wired it by taking a spur from the bedroom ceiling rose in the attic and then running the cable through the ceiling into my closet. I thought I had everything sorted BUT...

Hi, I'm just after changing most of the light switches in my house, and I've come across two problems. Firstly, I have installed metal switches in some areas of the house, and I'm unable to earth the switches because when the house was built, whoever installed the lights seems to have cut off...
Evening everyone. This is my first post so apologies for any errors.
I currently have a single switch controlling a single lightbulb in my garage. It's a bit dark so I'd like to replace it with two battens. While I'm at it I'd like to put a second switch by the other door (so I'm not staggering...

I went in to the dining room earlier to discover that the ceiling light fitting had fallen down, looks like the wire has snapped or possibly burnt?
Never had an issue with it before but it’s an old house.

Hi,
I currently have two light switches in my lounge. These switches control 2 lights. Either switch can be used to turn both lights on/off at the same time.
I have attached images of the wiring within each box.
I'm trying to replace these switches with a Lightwave master/slave combo.
These...
Hiya, after some advice. I'm in the process of getting rid of the halogen lighting in our house (17 x 50 watt bulbs out of the kitchen!)
Next on my hit list is the bathroom. It has 8 x 50w 12v lamps on independent transformers. I've uploaded some pics of the transformers but they are 20-60vA...
Hello
I want to install an internal CCTV camera in the kitchen facing the garden door. I need to mount the camera on to the ceiling (dome camera). The only way I can get power to the camera is by taking a feed from a near by downlight.
Am I 'allowed' to do this? Would I be breaking any...
