Your just reading conjecture not fact. It would be interesting to be fully aware of the facts but comments from people who don't know them are pointless. Some Ex this and thats as well.

What you on about? They have not released the number of people actually tested for 5 days in a row. It's on their official website.

People tested probably dropped as tests were in the post. For all you know figures quoted may include ones that have come back now.

The test numbers have never matched people as some do need testing more than once but the differences are low. Tests in the post add further complications.

Maybe they will change the reporting yet again as currently no one knows other than them.

131k tests of which 52k sent out

LOL That could be seen as an improvement then. I've not seen any mention of more drive in or mobile testing. I have half heard comments about acceptable turn round times. 1/2 heard as it's currently an embarrassing question to answer so wasn't too clear. 48hr seems to be seen as acceptable - maybe longer.

On the other hand the time sets how long contacts are walking about. The person being tested doesn't matter - they are self isolating. They are supposed to have symptoms but the test may come back negative. ;) There are holes in everything, what ever they do.

A web report mentioned that tests are slow because the RNA has to be amplified to a level where it can be detected. That it seems takes 24hrs. Same report mentioned Korea got it down to 2hrs by increasing the processing temperature to 60C. Web report so no way of knowing if either numbers are correct really. From other sources the 2hrs seems to be. Korea was testing people while they wait very quickly on arrival but switched to 14 days isolation - enforced according to one TV report. Testing on arrival or before boarding a plane can't work out due to the incubation period.

The daft thing really is lack of the phone app and some nuts saying they wont use it. With that they could tell all to isolate. Test the head of the contacts or all. I wonder if this is down to more just in time related to what ever they plan, don't want too many off work or problems with the app.

:( Only good thing I have noticed recently was on a brief slide. 20 odd % of people are using masks yet they still aren't really pushing it.

Well this is a surprise: The govt has been lying on the stats for testing.
Exclusive: Matt Hancock Faces Second Warning Over Coronavirus Test Figures
Another rare letter of concern being considered by the UK Statistics Authority.

Britain’s statistics watchdog is expected to warn Matt Hancock that it still has concerns about government figures for daily Covid-19 tests, HuffPost UK can reveal

https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/en...witter_cooo9wqtham&utm_campaign=share_twitter

but govt supporters say: "its ok because every politician lies and we like being lied to, its why we voted for a liar" :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Tests People tested Positive Deaths in hospitals Deaths in all settings
Daily 127,722 Unavailable 2,445 178 215

Again unavailable and 44k in the post.

7 days in a row the number of people actually tested remains unavailable.

I wonder what shenanigans they have in store.

200,000 by tomorrow?
Or was it 250,000?

"Mr Johnson also said the government’s ”ambition” was now to hit 200,000 by the end of May and go beyond that at a later date. Although his announcement was a significant increase on Mr Hancock’s earlier commitment, it still fell short of the PM’s own promise as long ago as 25 March that test numbers would “very soon” reach 250,000."

He'll be waving bits of paper in the air soon.

But what was the (smaller) number of tests actually performed?

They didn't use it so capability.

It's there for tracking. That should have started on the batch of people tested positive when the service was started up or maybe an earlier one.

They announced reaching 200k today in the brief.
Did Boris say a capacity to do 200,000, or did he say "ambition to hit 200,000 tests a day?
His comment was later changed to having the capacity to do 200,000, which was the second watering down of his promise because he had earlier promised 250,000.
Or does Boris not know the difference between tests and capacity, or between 250,000 and 200,000?

He said meet a capacity of 200k. Seems they have.Time will tell. They aren't free so maybe that interferes with what they do.

Might be a case if this yet again

What Is Just-in-Time (JIT)?

The just-in-time (JIT) inventory system is a management strategy that aligns raw-material orders from suppliers directly with production schedules. Companies employ this inventory strategy to increase efficiency and decrease waste by receiving goods only as they need them for the production process, which reduces inventory costs. This method requires producers to forecast demand accurately.

It can also apply to providing "facilities" just in time as they are needed. I suspect in real terms it might be like the nightingale - just in case. :( have to wait and see. Could also be just another bit of politics - good for the news etc.

Tests per million of population we stand at about 9th in the world, ahead of Germany and almost 3 times the rate of France.
