Possible but still not good as the rivets will have plastic between the pieces of metal they are connecting together. If ( when ) the plastic deforms over time due to pressure from the rivet then the pressure the rivet exerts on the metals it is connecting reduces and thus contact resistance increases and reliability of the contact reduces.
