I'm writing my letter to santa and asking him for a new axe. My old stanley has been ok but now it's so worn down it barely holds a edge and the handle is bound with gaffer tape (yes I know but don't we all do that?)
Ah but which one to ask for? I quite like the Estwings but how about others? I've had a look around

screwfix also do a range of forgesteel axes ranging from about £8 up to £14 but I've dismissed them. The only forgesteel tool I've tried is the boat level which after light use is now 7mm out in it's own lenght!
Axminster have these
These look interesting and japaneese tools have a decent reputation but has anyone used one of these?

or these seem ugly looking things although the price suggests that they should be decent enough, but again has anyone used one?

I'm used to using an axe quite often and it never leaves my kit, it gets used for scribbing , doweling , thinning and a million a one other jobs, it's even eased doors so I'm looking for something decent and just thought I'd see what people on here think.
