There is definitely a thing going on between different sectors of the LGBetc community. The Prof under attack is a well known Lesbian, left wing, Feminist. I know a few lesbians and they all say the LGBetc community are not a community and they often finds huge differences of opinion between the internal groups. There does seem to be a thing between Trans and Lesbians, a bit of a turf war going on?
For me, identify how you like, dress how you like and if you are of sound mind do what you like to your own body as long as you 1, don't expect me to pay for it and 2, don't expect me or anyone else to have to change to accommodate you. In this case, men who want to become women are going to come in to conflict with those already occupying the gender. I would not treat a woman who has transitioned to a man as a man and I would not treat a man who has transitioned to a woman as a woman. They can be trans if they want, just don't start dictating to others.
