Additional boiler to outbuilding

To fit a reasonable combi and three rads I would be charging about £2400 and that is without the 25 m of gas supply pipe from the house!

Two biggest problems with leccy UFH are the running costs and the fact I've never seen a system that's had real use that hasn't gone pearshaped.

At the end of the day it revolves around a resistive wire that gets hot - no wonder they all seem to burn out within a couple of years and if you've put a decent floor finish on top you're Donald Ducked!!

But a much more capital cost effective solution would be an electrically heated cylinder and electric space heating, possible electric UFH.

It all depends on the amount of usage it is likely to get.

Most I see are little used after the first burst of enthusiasm.
Tony the Op has told you it is a man cave, he is not moving in a family of Saree wearing refugees , he needs some heat while watching the footie and the occasional shower, so the wife didnt know that he was on Porn hub at half time, a U6 will be fine as long as all the pipework sizes are correct, you have had two nights to google Diversity factor so what are your calculations ?

I knew eventually agile would get round to telling everyone his cost, just surprised it took so long.

You know, there's time when I just think you're at the wind-up Tony.
Why would you quote a figure? How the feck did you come up with that?

I expect that is the kind of figure that most here would be charging. I don't see anyone would do it much cheaper.

The OP did not say it was a man cave, that was suggested to him.

Certainly electric will be more expensive.

But assuming he goes out to work for 9 hours a day, sleeps in the house for another 9 hours then that only leaves a maximum of 6 hours to stay down the garden. The extra costs of that will take a long time to justify the far higher costs of a gas combi.

Of course in any normal family situation, I cannot imagine anyone spending any more than two hours a day down the garden looking at porn or working out.

@Agile care to comment on the ops existing electric setup and what requirements you think this all new electric heating setup might need plus the effect on the existing cutout, tails, consumer unit??????

Oops you're not an electrician either.

He is going to lay the steel armour in the trench instead of the gas pipe!
The electrical supply will be put in by pixies, free of charge of course ,funny you don't see that happening in most of the places around here
If it's going to be a man cave I would look at wood burner myself, there is something beautiful about a real fire

But it is a man cave who is going to light it and clean it out ?????

Right got the GT survey results and it confirms we are getting 70 Kw/H. My GE is happy for the 2nd boiler to go in the out building.

Now the decision time, as you may recall he was recommending to go with Vaillant ecoTEC, i mentioned to him about Intergas and he does not seem to be bothered. I dont think he has installed Intergas, i did ask him if getting Intergas Eco RF 24 has any advantage (wireless control) over Vaillant and he said he will take a look.

Anyway it seems that GE is not fussed so i guess its safe to ditch Vaillant and go with Intergas?
