Trump 'to order further troop withdrawal' from Afghanistan and Iraq

If Trump was in power then it would have been he who got it wrong... but it was not he but Biden that got it terribly wrong.....

In my opinion this has made the world a more dangerous place.
today Afghanistan, tomorrow ? The UK's open borders and involvement causes me concern.

So Biden was just following Trumps orders. Fair enough.
Probably the same reason he's building the new section of border fence in East Texas.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...baradar-is-undisputed-victor-of-a-20-year-war

Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban leader freed from a Pakistani jail on the request of the US less than three years ago, has emerged as the undisputed military victor of a 20-year war.

In 2018, however, Washington’s attitude changed and Donald Trump’s Afghan envoy, Zalmay Khalilzad, asked the Pakistanis to release Baradar so he could lead negotiations in Qatar, based on the belief that he would settle for a power-sharing arrangement. “I had never seen any real substantiation of that point, but it just took on a kind of mythic idea,” the former official said.

Baradar signed the Doha agreement with the US in February 2020, in what the Trump administration hailed as a breakthrough towards peace but which now appears a mere staging post towards total Taliban victory.

I remember an interview with a Russian military man just as it all started. Message - you wont succeed. Actually I don't think anyone ever has.
Not for nothing is it known as the graveyard of empires.

The obvious one is the Towers and terrorism.
The WTC attackers were mostly Saudis. None were Afghans.

I've never served in the military & know little about their way of doing things.

But I do know that high up on the list of any retreating army is "DESTROY YOUR WEAPONS" & leave nothing behind that your enemy can use against you.

Attack helicopters indeed? Somethings just don't blow right in the minds of soshal meedya soldiers.

Trump Asks Biden To 'Resign In Disgrace'; Blames POTUS For Afghanistan, 'Border Catastrophe' (ibtimes.com)

In a statement Sunday, Trump blamed the current situation in Afghanistan on Biden’s decision to withdraw American troops by Sept. 11. He also claimed that the problems facing the U.S. have mounted under his successor’s watch.

“It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in COVID, the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our crippled economy,” Trump wrote, according to the New York Post.

“It shouldn’t be a big deal, because he wasn’t elected legitimately in the first place!” Trump added, referring to his previous claims that there was widespread voter fraud during the 2020 elections.
