Sounds like they've taken Kabul - US still control the airport, but for how long?

Military intelligence should have predicted this and evacuated people before withdrawing.

Not for nothing is it known as the graveyard of empires.

The WTC attackers were mostly Saudis. None were Afghans.
Afghanistan was hosting Al-Qaeda at the time of the 9/11 attacks, so from that perspective it is understandable that America would want to do something about it.
The big mystery is why did America also attack Iraq, a country with no conection to Al-Qaeda or 9/11.

WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden is under mounting pressure as he weighs whether to fully withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan by May 1, a deadline negotiated by the Trump administration.

Trump 'to order further troop withdrawal' from Afghanistan and Iraq
Obama started it - the promised withdrawal. Trump pushed it through and now Biden is hiding behind Trumps decision, which is popular at home but (now) very unpopular elsewhere.

Every cloud has a silver lining, when they do arrive they can be trained up to drive Tesco container lorries or pick turnips that would otherwise rot in the fields.

Yeah, but we don't want them crossing the channel to help us.

Give it a year and the government will rip up employment law the stops children working on farms all summer.

Seems like in tact attack helecoptors have been handed over to the lunatics

let’s hope they don’t know how to use em

an American humiliation no 2 ways about it

There capture is symbolic as they don't have the pilots, engineers or equipment to operate them.

The US did not train the locals Afghan Engineers fully so they could only do the bare maintenance and repairs - the more involved work was for the US Military contractors, this left over half the helicopters out of service before even this withdrawal had begun.

They might well have sabotaged their own choppers so they can't be used.

One report suggests the US can only hold the airport for a few days

Forget about investing in Premium bonds.
Investing in rubber dinghy manufacturers might be a better idea.
According to this Tory boy, Britain should accept that millions of Afghan refugees will leave Afghanistan.

Former President Donald Trump on Sunday praised withdrawing US troops from Afghanistan, while knocking his successor's timeline for doing so.
Though the former President offered his support of President Joe Biden's plans to bring home American troops, he urged his successor to draw an end to America's longest war well before the September 11 deadline that Biden set last week. Trump said that while leaving Afghanistan is "a wonderful and positive thing to do," he had set a May 1 withdrawal deadline and added that "we should keep as close to that schedule as possible."
"I wish Joe Biden wouldn't use September 11 as the date to withdraw our troops from Afghanistan, for two reasons. First, we can and should get out earlier.

Biden said the withdrawal of American troops will begin on May 1, in line with the agreement the Trump administration made with the Taliban.

---------------

One of Donald Trump's campaign promises was to end the war in Afghanistan. Last year, he negotiated an agreement with the Taliban to withdraw all U.S. forces by May 1 of 2021.

Trump’s New Big Lie: Afghanistan

the “peace accord” that Trump’s emissaries signed with the Taliban in February 2020, in Doha, imposed only a few conditions—and the Taliban are violating none of them at the moment. The Taliban merely agreed not to allow any “individuals or groups, including al-Qaida, to use the soil of Afghanistan to threaten the security of the United States and its allies.” The accord did not bar the Taliban from fighting Afghan government troops or from capturing Afghan provinces on its own.

The Republican Party has removed a page from its website that praised former President Donald Trump's peace deal with the Taliban and bid to withdraw US forces from Afghanistan.

Did you actually view what you posted?

Could you point out the bit where he said 'Britain should accept millions of Afghan refugees'?

In the full interview Rory was actually correct in saying we helped cause the current situation, and with other nations should accept the consequences...

40 nations should accept their share, and he is morally right...

Despite the protestations of the right wing loonies/brexiteers, the UK has one of the lowest intake of refugees!

Is your hearing defective?

Or the part of your brain which processes the words your ears pick up?

Or have you got an alternative soundtrack to that video, because in the one I heard Rory Stewart DID NOT SAY that "Britain should accept millions of Afghan refugees"...

In the full interview Rory

He's the guy that wanted to be PM so that he could be truthful with people about what ever rather than the continuous pretence.

 No help for me I replied to an ellal post.

They are currently holding a cobra meeting. More jaw jaw and expenses. The only actions that can be taken have been.

Taliban is going to have words with it's "workforce" about some western things being left untouched and not interfered with in the capital so some charities are remaining. Don't now how many etc, one mentioned - brave people, a female was interviewed as well.
