Its because the US knew they were losing the war, they wanted a way out, so they decided to allow the Taliban leaders to be released to pave the way for a relatively smooth exit for the US troops.

After this guy was released, not 1 single US soldier was killed in Afghanistan by the Taliban. The US were allowed to leave Afghanustsn by the Taliban.

And THAT is why Trump was a great US President.

Whereas his critics seem desperate for more wars.

You have Iran and Pakistan helping secretly. And, now sensible countries like Qatar are also willing to help the Taliban with their airport. I think I also read somewhere that Turkey will also be helping the Taliban.

When you have external actors with their own agendas acting in bad faith, it becomes very difficult.
