Alternative gas valve for an obsolete boiler?

Why should the vendor mention that the boiler is obsolete?...

While this could be filled in as "being in good working order " for an obsolete boiler that had just been repaired the inspection report might reflect on the obsolescence of the boiler even if the date of installation does not flag up the age of the boiler.

The amount of houses I see people move into and rip out and replace everything, inluding heating, is amazing. I saw a greenstar cdi classic ripped out recently and replaced with a greenstar cdi compact?

I fitted a Viessmann heat only for a friend and that was ripped out after just two years when the purchasers had it converted to a combi boiler presumably to recover the space taken up by the cylinder.

Probably on the basis of "advice" given by a plumber who was focussed on getting a two year old Viessmann boiler and a huge copper cylinder, rather than giving the best advice for the new owner.

If the boiler had been repaired recently, then spares are obviously available.

Customers are very economical with the truth/facts if it will cost them money!!

Would you buy a house with an obsolete boiler that might be non-repairable the next time it goes wrong ?

Or would you consider the vendor should not mention that the boiler is obsolete even if it is working at the time of sale. ?

Sold as seen, if the buyer is that concerned then get it checked via there own RGI and take his advice, at there cost.
It's not the sellers responsibility to teach them to suck eggs.

As the OP has given no details of the part......who knows !!

I'm pretty sure they were V4600A... which are readily obtained.

Might be a V7000 also, Ideal made a lot of Concord Ser2s. Quite an expensive valve.

As said above, if you sell a house with old lump of a boiler in it, every surveyor will warn the prospective purchaser of imminent expense, whether or not you've just put a gas valve into it. A 30yr old Concord with a new gas valve is worth a £1 more than one with an old gas valve.

Wait till you have the EPC done for the house, that will come out well. NB: If your house is in the London area, the Mayor will still give you £400, and Worcester will give you another £100, making your new boiler £500 cheaper.

But surely a new boiler would be a sales feature & make the property more desirable?? But hey, if you just want a quick sale, why bother.

A pearl of wisedom indeed, who the feck would want a WB boiler??

Around 100 of my customers per year, for starters. And I can't recall any of my Worcester boiler customers saying they wished they'd bought something else.

Some of my Vaillant customers might have a different view, sadly.

V 7000 were fitted to the commercial boilers Concord Cx range IIRC.

Complete rubbish boilers, unreliable, overpriced plastic junk!! Nightmare to work on, cut you to shreds with poorly finished flimsy steel. Extortionately expensive spares & very old technology. One of the worst boiler manufacturers & products on the UK market.

I will leave the last word to the internet specialist above.
